Chapter 726
"Mandy, today's the day of your grandma's surgery. She adores you so much, how come you're not here?"
"Dad, I totally spaced! I'm so sorry, I was busy throwing a birthday bash for Xavier. I completely forgot. Has grandma gone into surgery yet?"
"She's already in the OR."
Mandy replied, "When will grandma be out of surgery? I'll head to the hospital once she's done."
"Mandy, you're really disappointing your grandma, especially after all the love she's given you. I didn't raise a daughter to be so wrapped up in her love life!"
Evan ended the call, fuming.
Just thinking about Mandy made Evan so angry, he felt like giving her a piece of his mind on how to act properly.
Stepping outside, he bumped into Ayala, shaking his head in frustration.
Ayala sighed, "Mandy's been so rebellious lately. How did we end up raising such a love-struck kid?"
Evan weakly responded, "Blame me..."
Ayala just looked on in silence.
...
The surgery was a success.
Alivia was wheeled into a room for observation, and everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
Josefina, having shed her surgical gown, made her way to Percy's office.
Alivia had been transferred to Percy's hospital earlier, making coordination easier for everyone.
Josefina mentioned, "The nurse will keep a constant eye on grandma. Once she's awake and there are no issues, she can be discharged in a couple of days."
Evan was immensely grateful, "Josie, I can't thank you enough. You're truly a blessing to our family."
Ayala added, "With Josie back, our family just keeps getting better. She's a real lucky charm!"
"Uncle, Aunt, you're too kind. Grandma is family to me too; it's all in a day's work," Josefina replied politely.
Hattie, with concern in her eyes, said, "Josie, I've asked Annika to

Ayala insisted with a smile, "It's just a small token, Josie. Please, accept it."
Hattie looked at her tenderly, "Josie, it's a small gesture from your aunt. Please, take
it."
Left with no choice, Josefina accepted, "Thank you, Uncle. Thank you, Aunt."
After exchanging a few more pleasantries, Josefina left.
She received a message from Joelle about a sudden addition to their experiment schedule, urging her to hurry to school.
Josefina messaged Haylee, who confirmed the experiment, prompting Josefina to rush to the university.
As Josefina entered the campus, she quickened her pace, worried about being late.
She took a shortcut past the teaching building, through a grove of trees, saving some time.
But before she could clear the grove, Josefina stopped dead in her tracks, sensing danger approaching.
Looking around, she saw no one.
The grove was usually bustling with passersby.
“What's going on today? Why's it so deserted?"
Josefina called out, "Who's there? Come out! Hiding isn't exactly heroic!"
Just as she was about to move, a baseball bat came flying toward her...
