Chapter 789
"Oliver, every day it feels like you're either flirting with me or on your way to. What's your deal here? Marriage? Let me tell you, that's not happening anytime soon."
Oliver set his fork down, his eyes softening. "Josie, how about you just take me as I am for now? We can leave out the marriage part for a bit."
Josefina was momentarily speechless.
"I'm not just going to 'take you.' That's a pretty big ask."
Oliver gently took her hand. "What's the cost of accepting me? Let me know so I can get ready for it."
Josefina couldn't help but laugh. "You're something else, really."
She pulled her hand back and stood up. "Let's head over. Your grandparents and
my parents are still chatting; we can talk here. Didn't you say you started a herb garden at home, Josie? Why not show me around?"
Just as Josefina hesitated, Calix burst in.
"Sis, you've got to come outside."
Ignoring Oliver completely, Calix stood by Josefina. "Sis, come on, I've got a surprise for you."
Josefina stood up. "Calix."
"Let's see what Calix has prepared."
Calix took Josefina by the arm, leading her outside as if Oliver wasn't even there.
Oliver followed, curious about what Calix had planned for Josefina.
Calix led Josefina to a plaza at the back of the estate.
As soon as they arrived, fireworks shot into the sky, bursting into a stunning display.
There were so many kinds of fireworks; it was mesmerizing.
Josefina looked up, her face glowing with a smile.
"Calix, the fireworks are gorgeous."
"As long as you like them, that's what matters," Calix beamed, thrilled to see his sister so happy.
Calix had gone all out, sourcing various fireworks. Money was no object as long as they dazzled Josie.
Oliver stood on Josefina's right, Calix on her left. The three of them watched the fireworks, all smiles.
Oliver made a mental note: Josie loved fireworks.
After the show, Josefina's face was still glowing with joy.
Hattie and the others had also come to enjoy the fireworks.
"Sis, if you like fireworks, we can do this again," Calix laughed.
"Thanks, Calix, but once is enough," Josefina said gently.
"Sis, don't worry. Fireworks are no
big deal. You shouldn't worry get
the costats my job to spony little sister, right?"
Calix glanced at Oliver, then squeezed between him and Josefina, nudging Oliver aside.
"Sis, let's head back for dinner. I
heard Annika's whipping up a
massive
seafood platter, I
be epic."
Hearing about the seafood platter, Josefina was eager to check it out.
Everyone moved to the dining area, where a large round table that
seated twenty was piled with net
mouthwatering dishes.
The seafood platter was indeed enormous!
All sorts of seafood were on display, tempting everyone.
Reid and Dorian had returned, and everyone took their seats.
Josefina sat down, Reid on her right and the ever-watchful Calix on her left.
Dorian exchanged looks with the two, resigning himself to sit with Oliver.
Oliver, caught in the middle, accepted his fate.
After all, how could he compete when the three brothers saw him as the rival?
"Here, let me peel some shrimp for you," Reid offered, placing the peeled shrimp on Josefina's plate.
Calix cracked open a crab, "Sis, try some crab."
