Chapter 823

Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess · Dana E.

Josefina was on her way to the pharmaceutical company, her mind set on getting there. But halfway through, she felt a shiver down her spine-a sure sign someone was tailing her.

Quickly assessing her surroundings, Josefina decided to switch up her plan. She turned on her heel and headed in the opposite direction, her instincts on high alert. The footsteps trailing her confirmed it: she wasn't imagining things.

As she rounded the next corner, Josefina picked up her pace, hoping to shake off whoever was following her.

"Dorian, where'd she vanish to? Did she just sprout wings?" one of the men whispered, clearly baffled by Josefina's sudden disappearance.

"Let's keep looking, man. How did she just disappear like that?" his buddy replied.

But just as they were about to move on, Josefina nimbly leaped from between two buildings, landing right in front of them. Arms crossed, she flashed a cheeky smile, "Looking for me?"

The men, startled by her ghost-like appearance, instinctively glanced upwards. Did she actually come down from up there? Could she have just flown?

They exchanged bewildered looks, their eyes wide with disbelief. "How'd you get up there?" one of them stammered.

"Aren't you just a student? You know martial arts?" the other questioned, their voices tinged with disbelief. They'd been warned about Josefina's fighting prowess and ruthless streak, but they hadn't really bought it until now.

Josefina smirked, taking a step back, "Don't yell at me; I've always had a thing about loud dogs."

The leader growled, "Are you calling me a dog?"

"Well, if the shoe fits. If you can't catch what I'm saying, maybe I'll just carve it on your tombstone?" she shot back with sass.

The men were left speechless. What a sharp-tongued gal!

Fuming, the leader snarled, "You're asking for it!" He lunged at Josefina, but she smoothly sidestepped, watching him stumble and fall flat on his face.

"Keep your distance; I'm allergic to idiots," she quipped.

The younger man charged, swinging a punch, but Josefina deftly caught his arm and twisted it until it broke.

The leader, now on the ground, pulled out a gun, pointing it at her. "You're done for!" he shouted, but Josefina, brimming with confidence, wasn't fazed.

"Feeling bold, are we?" she taunted as he fired. Quick as a flash, Josefina used the injured man as a shield, the bullets hitting himo instead. He cried out in pain.

The shooter, still firing, backed away until a motorcycle zipped by, giving him the chance to escape. Josefina glanced at the fallen man and promptly called the cops.

When the police arrived, they pieced together the story-Josefina had been tracked by two wanted murderers.

Just then, a sleek Maserati pulled up, and out stepped a figure who rushed to scoop Josefina into a warm embrace.

"Josie," he murmured.

Josefina's heart flutter. "Oliver, fine she reassured him, wrapping her arms around his sold frame,

Oliver pulled back slightly, his dark eyes locked onto hers with an intensity that spoke volumes. "Josie, I'm on it. I'll find them and make them pay."

"Oliver, just breathe. I've already called the cops. They'll sort it out," she said softly.

Oliver nodded, but his silence spoke louder than words—he wasn't entirely on board with leaving things to the authorities.
