Chapter 836

Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess · Dana E.

Josefina nodded, agreeing, "Hunter's got a point there."

"I've seen Peter and Caiden grow up. They're good kids, with solid characters and decent skills," Hunter continued.

Josefina just sighed internally. She was here for Hunter's check-up, not to be matched up with anyone.

"Hunter, I already have a boyfriend," she clarified.

Hunter looked surprised, "Already? That was fast."

But then again, it made sense. A girl as remarkable as Josefina wouldn't be lacking in admirers.

Still holding onto hope, Hunter asked softly, "Who's the lucky guy? Do I know him? Good, upstanding young men are pretty rare in Westwood. From other families, though, Oliver from the Baldwins is quite impressive. Talented and good-looking."

Josefina chuckled, "Well, my boyfriend is Oliver."

"What!" Hunter was stunned.

He had hoped it would be someone else, giving his grandson a chance. But if it was Oliver, their family didn't stand a chance.

"Oliver's a great guy, and he's got excellent taste," Hunter laughed, trying to lighten the mood.

Josefina just smiled, not saying much as the room filled with an awkward quiet.

"Hunter, you're still in recovery. Let me know if there's anything you need. I've got to head out now," she said.

Hunter offered to walk her out, but Josefina politely declined and left.

With a sigh, Hunter settled back into his chair. "I guess our family's just not that lucky," he muttered to himself, feeling a bit down.

Caiden walked in, grinning, "Grandpa, what luck were we missing out on?"

"Not having Josie as a granddaughter-in-law, what else?" Hunter replied.

Caiden just nodded, thinking of Josefina being with Oliver, and kept his thoughts to himself.

Hunter went on, "The Rowland family's status isn't everything. I kicked your dad out, let him fend for himself. I'm curious how long Marina will stick by him

Caiden just shrugged, not keen on getting involved in Darrick's mess. People like that weren't worth his time.

...

Livia was strolling home with some barbecue and beer in hand when she saw Finley coming her way.

He looked a lot thinner, his cheeks sunken, his beard unkempt, nowhere near his usual polished self.

"I'm sorry, everything was my fault before," Finley said as he approached her.

Livia, hands full with the barbecue and beer, couldn't even spare a hand to smack him.

one

"Finley, are you nuts? If you're sick, see a doctor. Don't come crawling back to me; can't fix your cold-hearted selfistiness.

Out of nowhere, Finley pulled out a knife and offered it to her.

"If stabbing me would ease your anger, go ahead. I know I messed up, I hurt you."

Livia had heard enough of his apologies and wasn't interested in hearing more.

She set down the barbecue and beer, taking the knife from Finley's hand.

"You want me to stab you?"

"If it'll help you feel better."

Livia snorted, her face hard as ice. With the knife in hand, she thrust it into Finley's body.

Pain etched across his face, Finley winced, but looked at Livia without a trace of bitterness.

Livia pulled the knife out and stabbed him again.

"Finley, let me be perfectly clear-stay out of my life. The damage you did can never be undone. Think you can play the win

her back' game with me? You're not even close to worthy!"
