Chapter 845

When Oliver called, Josefina was out having dinner with Alex and Jade.

"Send me the address, and I'll come pick you up," Oliver offered.

"But we're planning to hit up some karaoke later,” she replied.

"Josie, we haven't seen each other all day. Don't you miss me?" he asked with a hint of longing. The room was so quiet that Alex and Jade could hear everything. Feeling a bit awkward, Josefina got up. "Let me take this call outside."

Once she found a quiet spot, she continued, "Oliver, I think they overheard you.” "Don't worry about them overhearing. But did you hear me?" Oliver asked gently. After a pause, Josefina admitted, "Yeah, I heard you."

"Should I come get you?"

Josefina wanted to fill Oliver in on her day and warn him to be careful. "Alright, I'll send you my location. Come over."

After hanging up and texting Oliver the address, Josefina returned to the room where Jade and Alex were waiting at the door.

With a teasing smile, Jade said, “Josie, Dorian told me you were on the phone with your boyfriend. Guess you're skipping karaoke tonight!"

Busted by Alex's guess, Josefina blushed a little. "Sorry, I really can't make it tonight. Next time's on me, I promise."

"Don't worry about it, Josie. You've got stuff to handle. We'll plan something next time we're all free," Alex assured her.

With that, Josefina headed out, and Alex and Jade walked her to the door. Soon, Oliver arrived to pick her up.

As Josefina got into the car, Jade turned to Dorian, "Josie's amazing, and her boyfriend seems great too. When are you going to find me a sister-in-law? You need to step up!"

“Rushing me into marriage already? My career's just taking off; that's my focus for now. Marriage isn't really in the cards yet," Dorian chuckled.

Jade just rolled her eyes with a smile.

Listening to Josefina's recount of her day, Oliver grew concerned. "You need to be careful, too. They rec desperate and trying to take as down one by one."

As they drove, Josefina gazed out at the night. "Where are we heading?"

"To my place. The chef whipped up some new dishes, and I'd love your feedback," Oliver replied.

Josefina hesitated, "Do I have a choice?"

Oliver laughed softly, "Not really."

They arrived at Oliver's estate, and after handing the car over to the valet, he took

Josefina's hand and led her across a beautifully lit bridge.

“Haven't you eaten yet?" Josefina asked. “I already did."

"Well, let's walk a bit to help you digest, and then you can keep me company while I eat," Oliver suggested with a grin.

Josefina just nodded, unsure of what else to say.

Back at the lab, Shay was busy working under Jane's watchful eye.

"Shay, you need to stay calm. We won't succeed if you're all frazzled," Jane advised.

Frustrated with the slow progress, Shay sighed, “I need a break before I can continue."

"A break? Since when did you get so

lazy? Josefina could finish two

experiments while you're resting. Are you going to let her outdo you?

Jane challenged.

Motivated by Jane's words, Shay shook off her fatigue and tackled her work with newfound energy.

Jane smiled, pleased to see Shay's determination.
