Chapter 877
Josie checked Hunter's pulse, gauging his health with a practiced touch. "Hunter, you're looking a lot better than before. With some exercise and a balanced diet, you're only going to get healthier."
Hunter beamed, full of gratitude. "Josie, thank you. For someone as young as you to have such medical skill, calling you a prodigy isn't an exaggeration."
Josie chuckled, "Hunter, you're flattering me."
"No, Josie, I'm serious. What you've accomplished is truly impressive."
Hunter understood the hard work it took to reach such expertise. "Josie, don't worry about what Darrick said. He's just being ungrateful."
"Hunter, I'm not upset," Josie replied. She didn't let people like that get under her skin. Letting their words affect her was simply inviting unnecessary stress.
Hunter continued, "I have a couple of ginseng roots here. Take them and see if they might be useful."
"Hunter, you should keep the ginseng for yourself."
"My old bones don't need it like they used to. Please, take it and see if it fits into your remedies."
Just then, Caiden arrived. "Ms. Josie, I'll show you where the ginseng is."
Hunter added with a smile, "Josie, take the ginseng as a small token of my gratitude."
Josie had saved Hunter's life, and he knew she'd never accept money, so he offered the ginseng, confident she'd make good use of it.
"Thank you, Hunter." Josie stood and left with Caiden.
As they walked, Josie said, "Just call me Josie."
Caiden grinned, "Josie, we've got more herbs at home. I'd love to show you, in case you find something useful."
So, Josie followed Caiden to check out the herbs. The herbs were stored in a separate room, and as Josie entered, she was enveloped by the earthy scent of medicinal plants.
Caiden presented the ginseng, still in
its box, to Josie. "These ginseng roots were set aside by my grandpa for you thought you might find. them handy, so I've gathered them for you."
Josie's eyes gleamed at the sight of the box packed with valuable herbs. As an aficionado of alternative medicine, she was thrilled with the gift.
"Caiden, I should pay for these herbs."
"Absolutely not. You saved my grandpa, and I'm beyond grateful. This is just a small token of appreciation, please accept it."
Seeing his determination, Josie graciously accepted. "Thank you." She planned to make some health-boosting remedies and give them to Caiden as a gesture of goodwill.
Caiden called over a couple of
helpers to load the herbs into Josie's
car. "Josie, when you have some
time could you take a look at my mom She's been having health issues and trouble sleeping."
"Let's do it tomorrow; today's pretty packed for me," Josie replied honestly.
"Alright, let's exchange contacts. It'll make it easier to stay in touch."
Josie took out her phone, and they swapped details before she drove off.
Caiden watched her car vanish
down the road, the smile on his face fading as it disappeared from view Turning back, he headed to a
storage room near the back door
guard at the entrance quickly
opened the door for him.
Inside, Darrick and Marina were hidden away. Seeing Caiden, Darrick's pent-up
anger erupted. "Caiden, I'm your father, and you let them capture and even hit me?"
