Chapter 940
Brandon was lounging on the couch, letting out a resigned sigh as he caught sight of Oliver's expression.
"Oliver, I get it. Forgiveness for Rowan isn't on your agenda."
"If you already know that, why'd you come all the way to see me at work?" Oliver asked, setting his phone aside.
Brandon sighed again, with a bit more flair this time. "I just wanted to give you a heads-up. I know you're not big on social media. Without Josie, you'd probably never check your phone and miss all my messages."
Oliver just nodded. Truth be told, he wasn't much into gadgets or the online world.
"I heard about it too, but honestly, it doesn't mean anything to me. He's him, and I'm me. We haven't had a father-son relationship for ages, so why pretend?"
Brandon chuckled. "Look, I'm not here to talk you into forgiving him. I just want to remind you to stay cool, even if you can't stand him."
Brandon was worried that if Rowan did show up, it would end in a shouting match, giving folks something to gossip about.
"I hear you," Oliver replied, cool as ever.
Brandon backed off, sensing Oliver's resolve.
"So, when are you and Josie tying the knot? I want to get a jump start on preparations."
Oliver replied, "Go ahead and start planning, but Rowan's not invited. I don't want him at my wedding with Josie, no way."
Brandon sighed inwardly but respected Oliver's decision.
"Your grandpa's got your back. I knew you wouldn't want him there. Don't worry, when you get hitched, I'll be there. He won't set foot in."
Oliver nodded, not adding anything more.
Brandon added, "You better put on your best behavior, Oliver. Get settled with Josie soon."
Again, Oliver just nodded, not in the mood for more talk.
Brandon took the cue and left.
Later, Josefina stumbled upon the news online, surprised by what she saw.
Rowan had finally seen through
Sydney and was divorcing her? The seemed so in love before—how d feelings change so f
wast?
Did love really fizzle out that quickly?
Josefina couldn't help but think of Oliver. Was he going to be like that too?
They say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Was Oliver destined to follow in Rowan's footsteps?
She shook her head, trying to shake off those thoughts.
Right then, her phone buzzed. Oliver was calling.
"Josie, I'm not like Rowan."
Josefina was momentarily speechless.
Was Oliver some kind of mind reader? How did he always know what she was thinking?
"Why this topic all of a sudden?"

and Im me. When we get married,
he won't be there."
Josefina stopped her imaginary bug hunt, leaning back in her chair.
She had to admit, Oliver had an uncanny knack for understanding her thoughts.
A smile crept onto her face. "I haven't even agreed to marry you yet. You're jumping the gun."
"It's not that far ahead, Josie. Time flies. Two years will be gone before you know it."
Josefina didn't respond right away.
Oliver continued, "You're graduating the year after next, right?"
"Something like that."
Oliver chuckled, "Well, I'll start planning now. I promise you a wedding for the ages."
