Chapter 995
Dorian and Reid walked in from work, only to hear the bombshell news that Oliver was planning to marry Josefina. Both brothers were instantly on high alert and rushed inside.
"Oliver," Dorian began, “you haven't even known my sister for six months. How can you be so sure about marrying her? What if you change your mind down the road?"
Reid jumped in, "Yeah, it's been such a short time. Why rush into marriage? We're not opposed to you two dating, but marriage is a whole different ballgame. It just feels way too soon."
Hattie's eyes briefly showed a flicker of sadness, but it quickly disappeared.
"Oliver," Hattie echoed her sons' concerns, "I feel the same. I don't judge marriage by how long you've known each other, but I just got my Josie back home. I haven't had the chance to really care for her, and now she's getting married? I want to cherish her a little longer."
Oliver had thought it all through and replied confidently, "I'm willing to live with Josie at the Harrison family home."
The whole family was taken aback.
None of them had imagined Oliver would suggest something like this, let alone be okay with it.
Was Oliver really not worried about being labeled as a guy who moved in with his in- laws? Did he genuinely want to be a son-in-law living at his wife's family home?
Oliver continued, "I've made up my mind. Josie and I can live here, and you'll see her every day. When we have kids, we'd love your help with them, too."
This suggestion almost convinced Hattie. Having Josie around and being involved with future grandkids sounded perfect to her.
Garrett nodded in agreement, liking Oliver's idea and hoping for such a future.
Dorian and Reid were taken aback by Oliver's determination. His willingness to make such a decision showed how much he loved Josefina.
The brothers found themselves at a loss for words, realizing that outright refusal might be too harsh.
Dorian, with a calm demeanor, said, "We'll need to talk to Josie about it."
Reid agreed, "Yeah, let's chat with Josie and see what she thinks."
They couldn't deny their sister's wishes if she truly wanted to marry Oliver, but they worried about her well-being.
The room fell silent, each person deep in thought, unsure of what to say next. Oliver finally stood up and politely said, “Mr. and Mrs. Harrison, I'll head out now."
He drove back to his place, where Josefina immediately sensed things hadn't gone as planned.
"Josie, I'm sorry," Oliver sighed. "Your
didn't agree. They think we need more time to get to know to get to know each other."
13&s, Dorian, and Reid
Josefina was nibbling on strawberries, savoring their sweetness.
"It's okay,” she said, unfazed. “We don't have to get married right away." She popped another strawberry into her mouth.
Oliver, a bit irritated by her laid-back attitude, asked, "Josie, did you even want to marry me?"
She looked up, “Of course I did.”
"You're eating strawberries like you don't have a care in the world. Doesn't it bother you that we can't get married yet?"
Josefina stood up to wash her
hands, then sat back down next to Oliver, noticing his displeasure. She
decided to sit on his lap, looking hina
straight in the eye. fo
"I'm not thrilled about it," she admitted. But I just don't think a piece of paper defines our
relationship. Not getting married or getting a marriage license doesn't change how I feel."
Oliver couldn't help but chuckle, though exasperated, he asked, “Do you see a marriage license as a burden?"
"Not a burden,” she replied, “I just don't think it's something to fuss over. I'll talk to my parents about it tonight, okay?"
