Chapter 111

Nancy was speechless. She was so mortified she wanted the floor to swallow her whole.

Damn it! Hannah totally played me!

The head nurse hovered behind them, at a complete loss. This was clearly against protocol, but this woman was Mr. Green's girlfriend and a major celebrity. Who would dare cross her?

After a moment, she stepped forward with a placating smile. “How about this? I can move you all to a larger VIP suite, free of charge. Would that be acceptable?"

In the room, a frail, middle-aged woman was propped up in bed, while a sullen teenager with hair obscuring his eyes stood beside her. Near the door was a woman in a business suit, though she seemed to lack any real authority at the moment.

The head nurse directed her question to Marguerite, a girl who couldn't be more than seventeen or eighteen. For some reason, she had a feeling this girl was the one in charge here.

Hannah's gaze also fell on Marguerite, her tone dripping with arrogance. "You heard her. Move, or get out."

She remembered how they had all ganged up on her at Starlight Group. Now that she had the upper hand, she was going to make them pay. She wanted Marguerite to know exactly how humiliating it felt to be kicked out.

But Marguerite, whose anger had been simmering just moments before, suddenly broke into a wide smile at the mention of a bigger, free VIP suite. "We'll move," she chirped. "Right now."

Hannah was dumbfounded. She felt like she'd thrown a punch and hit a pillow of cotton, leaving her even more frustrated than before.

"No! Who gave you the authority to do that? You're not moving them to a better room!" Hannah snapped, glaring at the head nurse.

The head nurse just stared back. This woman is certifiably insane. "Can't she see I'm just trying to do my job here?"

Marguerite's smile didn't waver. "Then we won't move. We paid for this room, and even if you own this hospital, you have no right to treat us this way."

Nancy lifted her chin slightly. “That's right! We can report you to the medical board!”

Hannah scoffed, finding them both ridiculous. "Do you really think this hospital doesn't have powerful backers?”

The head nurse's eyes went wide. Did she really just say that out loud? Even the hospital director wouldn't dare make such a blatant claim. Panicked, she tugged on Hannah's sleeve. "Ms. Carter, please, don't. The suite next door is even larger. I'll arrange for you to stay there, all right?"

"No. I want this room. Get them out of here," Hannah insisted.

The head nurse bowed her head. "I'm sorry, I can't do that."

Hannah seethed. "Then you can wait to be fired."

Just then, her phone rang. It was Joshua. She stepped out into the hallway to

answer.

"Joshua, are you here?"

Only after parking his car did Joshua realize this was the same hospital Marguerite had visited yesterday. The Greens had a major presence in Northgine, with several private under their name, He ha

hospita

planned to visit in the afternoon, but it seemed he had to come sooner.

"Which room are you in? I'll come find you," Joshua said.

Hannah's voice turned soft and pouty. "I'm in the VIP wing, but the head nurse here won't let me have the room I want."

"Who dares to treat you like that? I'm on my way."

Hanging up, Hannah's face lit up with a triumphant smirk. She was injured now;

Joshua would do anything for her. Kicking out one patient was nothing.

The head nurse, who had followed her out, overheard the conversation. Her heart sank. It felt like her world was collapsing.

Joshua spotted Hannah in the

corridor, her arm in a sling. Her face was pale, and her already slender frame looked even more delicate, às if a gust of wind could knock her over A pang of pity hit him, and he ushed to her side. "Hannah does it still hurt?"

At his words, tears welled up in her eyes and streamed down her face. "Joshua, it hurts so much," she sobbed.

He wrapped an arm around her shoulders, comforting her softly. “It's okay, it'll heal soon. Who wouldn't give you the room you wanted?”

Hannah sniffled, carefully planting a

seed of doubt. "It's partly my fault, too. The room like is already

ocetipied and the

inside

won't leave. The head nurse Said I

shouldn't be so demanding."

Her tears melted away any resistance he had. “Of course you should have it," he declared. "My girl gets whatever she wants in my family's hospital.”

A faint, victorious smile touched Hannah's lips.

Joshua, now fully masked and wearing a cap, turned to the head nurse. "Are you a fool? Can't you even handle a simple request?"

The head nurse felt deeply wronged. She had handled it, until Hannah rejected the solution. "The patient's family..."

"Tell the family to transfer to another hospital if they won't move!" Joshua snapped.

Then, he turned his head and saw her. The patient's family was Marguerite, who was in the middle of taking a bite from a honey bun.
