Chapter 149
Theobald's throat was dry as he stared at Aaron.
Marguerite patted his shoulder. "It's all in the past. If you're really that upset, just deposit a couple million into Aaron's account. He'd be thrilled. And while you're at it, you can send some my way, too."
The bright, cheerful smile in her eyes dispelled some of Theobald's gloom. From now on, their family would be okay.
Marguerite rode in Theobald's car with Jenny and Aaron in the back. George took his assistant's car, the understated silver minivan.
Kim had learned the whole story at the police station. He glanced at his boss's injured arm. "Mr. Spencer, will you be going to the office for the next few days?"
George watched the rearview mirror, his gaze fixed on the passenger seat of the car behind them. "No, I'll work from home."
Kim nodded. "Alright, I'll come to the villa in the morning. By the way, is that girl really Theobald's sister?" Good heavens! All this time I thought my boss was trying to be a homewrecker! But she looks way too young to be Theobald's sister.
"Yes," George replied flatly.
The car stopped in front of the villa. The girl got out of the other car and walked into the house with his boss.
Kim's jaw dropped.
Well, I'll be. The boss has a secret girlfriend, and they're already living together! He's not the other man, he's the main event!
Aaron had assumed Marguerite was living at Theobald's, and that Mr. Spencer was just dropping her off. He was shocked to learn that Mr. Spencer now owned his family's old villa, and that Marguerite was living here too.
"Theobald, what's_"
Theobald fingered the prayer beads on his wrist Mr. Spencer bought the villa. Marguerite has a sleep disorder and can only sleep in a familiar room so he's renting a room to her. Don't worry, Mr. Spencer won't do anything to her."
Aaron nodded. He believed that. No one had higher moral character than Mr. Spencer.
Theobald glanced at Aaron in the rearview mirror. It was hard to read his expression under his long bangs, but he was probably still worried Theobald had been searching for a good doctor for Marguerite's sleep disorder, but the top specialist was currently abroad for a research seminar. He'd make an appointment for her as soon as the doctor returned. He wanted Marguerite to be free, to be able to go wherever she wanted and sleep wherever she pleased.
It was already midnight. This was the first time the two of them had returned home so late together. The villas lights were on the butler hadn't left yet. It was his habit never
to leave before his employer returned.

"Good heavens! Sir, what happened to your arm?" the butler exclaimed in alarm.
"It's nothing serious. You can head home now," George said.
The butler's eyes darted between them. "Ms. Lopez, I'll have to ask you to take
extra care of our Sir tonight."
Marguerite nodded. "I will."
Even if the butler hadn't asked, she wouldn't have just stood by. After all, he had gotten hurt for her.
It was late, and it was time to shower and sleep. But...
"The doctor said you can't get your arm wet. How are you going to shower?" Marguerite asked with a frown.
