Chapter 1002
"You're... too kind," Juniper says.
"I try," Celine replies.
Having finished playing with the dog, Luella wanders over, catching the tail end of the conversation. "What are you two whispering about?"
"Celine was just saying she wants to introduce you to some handsome guys." Juniper smirks, ready for the show.
"That's right," Celine laughs awkwardly, her tone soft and encouraging. "Take your pick. As long as you like them..."
"No!" Luella turns deathly pale, shooting a resentful glare at Juniper. What kind of nonsense has Juniper been feeding her sister?
"It's perfectly fine." Celine, genuinely trying to be understanding, gives her a warm, accommodating smile. "Warren has a few men working under him who are quite handsome."
She then adds the kicker: "And more importantly, they also like men."
Luella freezes in place, suddenly finding it very hard to breathe.
Damn you, Juniper. Selling out a friend like this?
"My job here is done. I'm leaving." Luella huffs, turning on her heel. She starts power-walking, which quickly turns into a full-on sprint.
"Mr. Langley-" Celine watches Luella's fleeing figure in confusion. "What's wrong with him? Did I scare him away?"
"Just ignore her." Juniper's grin widens as she pulls Celine down into a chair, resting her palm gently against Celine's stomach. At nearly four months, the slight bump is noticeable, and the faint flutter of life can already be felt.
"How have you been feeling lately?" Juniper does a quick holistic check of her vitals. Her condition is much better than before, proving that Warren is taking excellent care of her.
"Pretty good," Celine smiles gently, radiating maternal warmth. "Just... a bit of morning sickness." She's been throwing up everything she eats.
"Oh?" Juniper raises an eyebrow, lightly tapping Celine's stomach. "If you dare give your mom a hard time again, just wait and see how I deal with you when you come out."
As soon as she says it, Celine feels her stomach tighten slightly, as if the baby is genuinely startled by Auntie Juniper.
Miraculously, from that day on, Celine never suffers from morning sickness again and eats with a hearty appetite.
After Juniper leaves, Warren returns from handling his work. With a surge of new orders on the island recently, he's been so busy he barely has time to eat.
"I heard Juniper dropped by?" Warren pulls his beautiful wife into his arms,
affectionately nuzzling her nose.
"She just left," Celine replies, holding his hand against her stomach, her voice sweet. After she threatened. the baby, Thaven't felt sick alb afternoon."
on
"That effective?" Warren smiles warmly. "Your whole family has you wrapped around her little finger."
They spoil her, yes. But despite being the youngest, all her older siblings are secretly a little intimidated by her.
"Rest for a bit. I'll make us dinner after I shower." Warren tucks Celine into bed before leaving the room.
"Boss." A subordinate is waiting outside, holding a stack of files. "We looked into it, but we couldn't find any solid information on them."
Warren takes the files, his eyes narrowing coldly at the name printed on the cover: Sanctum Holdings.
Having managed Liberty Island for
so many years, he knows every major syndicate and organization out there. But he's never heard of Sanctum Holdings Yet, this unknown entity just offered tens of billions for a partnership. Liberty Island is valuable, but not that
valuable. His gut tells him their intentions aren't pure.
"Send this name to Ms. Payne. Have her people look into it," Warren orders in a low voice.
With Binary Oracle and Cybernetic Shadows at her disposal, she should be able to dig something up.
"Yes, sir."
As the subordinate turns to leave, Warren adds, "The mangoes in the orchard are ripe. Send a couple of boxes to Ms. Payne. She loves them."
