Chapter 1041
"...Call me when you're done washing up." Shanley's rationality instantly snapped back. He frowned slightly, pulling the door shut behind him as he left. He had to chug two glasses of ice water just to suppress the impulsive, wicked fire burning in his veins. This girl was getting bolder by the minute! And the worst part was... he was utterly and hopelessly at her mercy.
After her shower, Juniper walked back to the bed in her pajamas, her hair still dripping wet. Shanley followed closely behind, holding a hairdryer. They were already so accustomed to this routine that they didn't even need to speak to know what the other was thinking.
Once her hair was dry, Shanley, who had showered in the guest bathroom, naturally slipped under the covers next to her. He expertly assumed his role as her personal "sleep-aid pillow."
"Juniper..." Shanley took her hand, bringing it to his lips for a tender kiss. He pondered for a long time before finally mustering the courage to whisper, "Once we find your parents, let's get married. How does that sound?"
The only response he got was the quiet stillness of the room and the girl's soft, even breathing. Shanley looked down, only to find the young woman sleeping peacefully against his chest. When had she fallen asleep? Did she even hear a word he just said?
"Alright, sweet dreams," Shanley chuckled helplessly, pulling the blanket up over her. What a heartless little thing. Then, as if something else crossed his mind, he picked up her hand again, studying it intently. His eyes grew dark and profound. This hand looked a little too bare. It was missing something.
The next day, Juniper walked into her classroom right as the bell rang.
"Juniper, you're finally here!" Hattie scooted over the second she sat down, immediately launching into a breathless tirade. She was highly animated, gesturing wildly, her tone shifting from excited to furious.
"Hold on," Juniper interrupted her grumbling with a raised eyebrow and a light laugh. "Are you saying Sheryl wants to settle the score with me?"
"No," Hattie gulped, lowering her voice conspiratorially. "It's Sheryl's teacher. She's here to deal with you."
"Her teacher?" Juniper discreetly pulled two candies from her pocket, handing one to Hattie.
"Thanks," Hattie took it and popped it into her mouth, her cheeks bulging as she mumbled, "Her mentor, Master Michelle, is in Eclara City. She said she wants to meet you in person."
"Michelle?" Juniper thought about it seriously but couldn't recall anyone by that
name.
"Yeah, she's an international tennis master with a whole bunch of fancy titles. I heard she's won a ton of major awards and holds a very high status in the tennis world." Hattie continued, "You completely humiliated Sheryl, which basically means you slapped her teacher in the face, Michelle just happens to be In Eclara City for work right now, and when she heard what happened, she was absolutely furious. She's in the principal's office right now with Sheryl's dad."
"Oh." Juniper rolled the candy around in her mouth, finally putting the pieces together. "So, Sheryl got went crying home,
beaten to a pulp, w
and dragged her dad and her mentor here to get back at me."
"Exactly!" Hattie nodded vigorously, letting out a long breath. She had finally managed to summarize the whole ordeal, and it had exhausted Her What are you
ng tôi
Hattie asked softly. "Sheryl looked
pretty pathetic, all bruised and
swollen. They might force you to
apologize."
Juniper didn't answer immediately. Instead, she pulled out her phone and searched
the name 'Michelle Tennis Master.' Soon enough, a page loaded with information
and a photo of the woman in question.
Hmm? This was Michelle? Juniper's eyebrows ticked upward, and a slow, meaningful smirk spread across her lips.
"Alright, then I'll go meet her!"
