Chapter 1078
"Ms. Payne, this is the live feed from the hidden cameras."
The second Juniper sat down in the private suite, Felton handed her an iPad.
The screen was split, showing perfectly synced live feeds of both Sheryl and the
fake girl.
"Excellent work. The quality is flawless," Juniper praised softly, a lazy smirk pulling at her lips.
"Thank you, Ms. Payne." Felton bowed his head humbly.
Honestly, the job had been a walk in the park. He'd simply bribed the makeup artist Sheryl had hired, slipping the microscopic cameras directly into both women's updos. Now, every move they made was broadcast in crystal clear HD.
He had assumed they were just trying to get the Boss's attention. But no. These absolute lunatics were actually trying to trap the Boss in a hotel room.
"All footage is being backed up to a secure server in real-time, Ms. Payne. You can pull the clips whenever you need them."
"Mhm." Juniper popped a piece of fruit into her mouth, looking completely relaxed.
Felton hesitated, unsure of his next move. "Ms. Payne, what are your orders regarding the Boss?"
She had mentioned earlier that she was using him as a pawn tonight. But what exactly was his role?
"Don't let him actually drink anything spiked," Juniper said smoothly, twirling a cocktail fork between her fingers. "But make sure they think he fell for it. If we flip the board too early, the game won't be any fun."
Felton blinked, taking a second to process the sheer villainy of the plan. "Understood, Ms. Payne."
With his orders clear, Felton slipped out of the room.
Juniper tapped the iPad screen, rewinding the footage to review the audio from earlier.
Hearing the Yardleys' master plan, her lips curved into a cold, lethal smile.
The Yardley family?
After tonight, they wouldn't even exist in Eclara City.
Down in the grand hall.
Heirs, socialites, and industry titans clustered around Shanley, desperate to make an impression.
Shanley's expression remained rigidly polite as he offered single-word replies, his dark eyes continually flicking down to his watch.
What kind of game was his girl playing? He was already sick of this entire event. If he wasn't under strict orders to play along, he would have bolted thirty minutes ago.
"Do you have somewhere to be, Mr. Schwartz?" one of the executives joked nervously. "Eager to get back to the missus, perhaps?"
The missus. Hearing those words, the thick sheet of ice radiating from Shanley instantly melted, replaced by a devastatingly handsome, genuine smile.
Seeing the dramatic shift, the crowd immediately realized exactly how to suck up to him.
A chorus of frantic compliments erupted, praising their beautiful romance and insisting they were a match made in heaven. Someone even boldly asked when they could expect wedding invitations
"Soon," Shanley murmured, swirling the amber liquid in his glass, his smile deepening.
"Ms. Payne is incredibly lucky to have found a husband like you," a random executive blurted out.
The smile vanished from Shanley's eyes.
The temperature in the room instantly plummeted. The crowd snapped their mouths shut in terror.
What an absolute idiot. Had he been living under a rock? The entire city knew Shanley was head-over-heels, utterly obsessed with his fiancée.
Insulting her to his face N
basically suicide.
"My fiancée is extraordinary,"
Shanley said, setting his glass down
with a sharp clack. His cold gaze
swept over the
rified group shes
the one settling by being with me.
Got it?"
"Absolutely!" The executive nodded frantically, sweating bullets. "I-I misspoke!
You're the lucky one, Mr. Schwartz! We're all just blind!"
The rest of the crowd exchanged panicked looks.
Just shut up before you get us all killed!
"I am very lucky," Shanley agreed, a slow smirk returning to his face. He shifted his
weight, looking bored again. "Was there anything else?"
"No, sir! Nothing at all!"
The group practically scrambled backward, retreating to a safe distance while whispering furiously.
He hadn't actually destroyed the guy! The rumors were true-the ruthless Shanley Schwartz had gone completely soft for his woman.
Just as Shanley pulled out his phone to text his girl and demand her location, a waiter approached with a silver tray.
