Chapter 1103
Interesting. This was truly fascinating. She was definitely Theia Sommers's
daughter; she had the exact same stubborn temper. The world could be collapsing around her, and she wouldn't even blink. He could hold a knife to her throat, and she'd probably still calmly negotiate terms.
"What's so funny?" Celine frowned, annoyed. "Spit it out. What do you want?"
"Celine." Corvus's smile vanished as he spoke slowly. "Do you want to see your parents?"
Parents? Celine's legs went weak at the word, and she nearly collapsed. Had she misheard him? Did this man just ask about her parents?
"What do you mean?" Her breathing hitched. She clenched her fists, forcing herself to stay calm. "You know where they are?"
"Of course." Corvus nodded, tilting his chin toward the wall. "She's right next door."
Celine snapped her head to the side, but all she saw was thick, impenetrable stone. Her mind was reeling. Juniper hadn't been able to track their parents down, so how had this man found them?
"Do you want to see her?" Corvus kept his tone perfectly even, making it impossible to read his intentions.
She did. Of course she did. But she refused to show it, her eyes guarded. Until she figured out his endgame, she wasn't going to say a word.
"I heard you recently found your family," Corvus pivoted, offering a mild smile. "Tell me, where are they?"
Theia's entire family had been wiped out long ago; her parents were dead. And Silas Blackwood was an orphan. The only family Celine could have found were her siblings. So many prime experimental subjects. The mere thought sent a thrill of anticipation through Corvus.
"Why do you ask?" Celine's heart sank. Thank god she had kept her mouth shut: Judging by his tone, he wasn't just after her. He wanted the rest of them, too. No matter who he was, she would never let him hurt her family.
"So you can all be reunited, of course," Corvus said, taking a step forward. He gazed at her with a mockingly tender expression. "No, rather... so we can all be reunited."
We? Him?
"I forgot to mention. I'm not just the head of Sanctum Holdings. I'm also your mother's brother. Your uncle."
Uncle? The revelation threw Celine's thoughts into complete chaos. This man was her uncle? She had never even known she had one. Besides, what kind of uncle abducted his pregnant niece like this?
"Is that right? Celine quickly masked her shock, her voice steady. "We don't look much alike." Her siblings
which meant their mother had
all shared certain physical net
look somewhat similar to them. But theman standing before her didn't share a single feature with any of them. If anything, he looked like a monster wearing the mask of a gentleman.
Corvus's expression darkened, his patience wearing thin. "So you don't want to see your mother?"
"How do I know the woman you're talking about is actually her?" Celine's mind was racing.
"There's no harm in letting you see for yourself." Seeing right through her little test, Corvus confidently played along. "After all, we have plenty of time to chat. Guards."
He ordered his men to escort Celine to Theia's room.
Mom? Was it really her? If she was alive, Juniper would be overjoyed. Every step Celine took felt surreal. Finally, after navigating a labyrinth of corridors, they came to a halt.
Gino, the steward, knocked on the heavy metal door and announced in a sneering tone, "Dr. Sommers. Your daughter is here."
