Chapter 1196
Juniper looked out the window and, sure enough, flames were shooting into the sky, accompanied by the continuous roar of explosions.
"What's going on?"
Panic erupted in the lab. The personnel scrambled, descending into total chaos.
"The stuff in that warehouse is the boss's lifeline.
If it burns to the ground, there's no telling how he's going to react."
"What stuff?" Juniper asked, feigning innocent curiosity.
"In the warehouse?" A few subordinates exchanged nervous glances before one answered, "Flowers. They're all the flowers the boss cultivated himself."
Flowers?
Shanley certainly knew how to pick his targets.
This was going to make the old bastard pop a blood vessel. Perfect.
"Inform Corvus that the genetic modification results are ready."
"Right away."
Less than five minutes later.
The lab doors flew open, and Corvus stormed in, practically radiating murderous frost.
Well, well.
He looked absolutely livid.
"You have the results?" Corvus glared at Juniper. Beneath the sheer fury in his eyes, there was a flicker of desperate excitement.
"Yes, I'm just finalizing it."
Juniper didn't move from her computer, casually throwing bait. "I heard the warehouse caught fire?"
"That's none of your concern."
Corvus clasped his hands behind his back, his gaze lethal. "Focus on your work."
The fire had started out of nowhere, and it was unnaturally aggressive. Plus, the warehouse was packed with perfectly preserved dried flowers.
They acted as pure kindling. It was going to take hours to put the fire out.
"I heard all the flowers burned to ash?" Juniper smirked, twisting the knife. "Were those the ones you were saving for my mom?"
Corvus's fists clenched so tightly his knuckles popped. He ground his teeth together, swallowing his rage.
"Care to share your feelings with the class?" Juniper blinked innocently, a bright smile on her face. "Your precious flowers are completely gone. How does that make you feel?"
"How do you think?"
Corvus's eyes were murderous. He forced the words out through clenched teeth. "How do you think I should feel?"
Juniper broke eye contact, saved her data, and stood up. "Is the test subject ready?"
"Yes." Corvus nodded stiffly. "A three-day-old infant."
Modifying a subject at this stage would yield the most undeniable results.
A genetically modified infant would be vastly superior to a normal human child.
An infant?
What a complete monster!
"Fine."
Juniper tilted her chin up, speaking slowly. "Take me to the lab."
Bet
Shortly after, Juniper was heavily shackled once again and marched to the
Watcondary lab under the
watchful eyes of dozens of armed guards.
Inside the lab.
Juniper stared down at the unconscious baby, her brow furrowing deeply. "You drugged him with sleeping pills?"
"He was too loud."
Corvus sat back in his chair, completely unbothered. "It's easier for you to work if he's asleep."
"Heh."
Juniper let out a cold, disgusted laugh, not holding back. "Corvus, you aren't just less of a man-you're not even human."
"Shut up and get to work."
Corvus slammed his hand on the table, barking a vicious order. "Or do you no longer care about your father's antidote?"
"I can give you the complete
research data," Juniper said, her
eyes darkening as she switched to a

"
"Show it to her!"
Corvus snapped his fingers, and a guard immediately brought a metal case forward.
"This is a six-month supply. As for
the formula..." Corvus stood still,
cold sick pulling at his lips, "Once t

naturally hand it over."
Juniper picked up a vial, unstoppered it, and held it to her nose. Just from the scent,
she could roughly deduce the active ingredients.
As for the formula...
She didn't believe for a second that this bastard had any intention of giving it to her.
"Begin the procedure, Specter."
Corvus settled comfortably into his chair, his eyes fixed on the massive monitor in front of him.
