Chapter 1199
Shanley was here to save Specter?
What was going on?
Weren't they sworn enemies?
"Allow me to introduce myself." Watching Corvus's utter shock, Shanley's thin lips curled as he spoke in a low, measured tone. "Shanley Schwartz. Head of the Sigma Network, and Miss Specter's fiancé."
"What?"
Corvus froze, staring at the two of them in disbelief.
The head of the Sigma Network was engaged to Subterra Vanguard's Specter?
Weren't they mortal enemies who had spent years trying to slaughter each other? Did they bond over assassination attempts?!
"I see it now. You've been playing me for a fool this whole time, haven't you?" Corvus finally connected the dots, a cold laugh escaping his chest. "The car crash from the very beginning—it was all a setup? You made me think you genuinely wanted to collaborate, but your real goal was to rescue Theia and Silas."
"And what if it was?"
Juniper stood beside Shanley, smirking sharply. "I'll give it to you straight, Corvus. I did figure out the formula for genetic modification."
"Where is it?"
Corvus stood among his men, his face contorting into a mask of desperation. "Hand it over, and I'll let you both walk out of here alive."
"Sure thing."
Juniper pulled a flash drive from her pocket, balancing it on her palm. "Everything is in here. The complete, flawless data we finalized over the last few weeks. Anyone with this drive holds the key to genetic perfection."
"Give it to me!"
Corvus took a step forward, his voice a guttural roar. "Specter, give me the drive!"
He had waited decades for this exact moment.
"It's a shame. If this fell into your hands..." Juniper narrowed her eyes, speaking with agonizing slowness. "I'd be committing a crime against humanity."
"I never had any intention of giving this to you."
With a flick of her wrist, Juniper tossed the flash drive straight into the roaring flames of a burning console.
"Bang-"
She fired a single shot. The bullet shattered the casing, and the drive was instantly swallowed by the fire, turning to ash in seconds.
"My drive... my research!"
Corvus's pupils dilated in pure horror. He lunged toward the fire instinctively, only to be yanked back by his frantic subordinates.
Staring at the ashes of his life's
work, Corvus's eyes turned
bloodshot. He locked a gaze of pure hatred onto Jumper, grinding outs every word Kill Specter. Kill Shanley Schwartz."
The firefight erupted once again.
Every time Juniper tried to push the offensive, Shanley pulled her back, shielding
her behind him.
"Do I look like I need your protection?"
Juniper glared at him, smoothly
ejecting her spent mag, slapping a
fresh one in, and racking the slide to
fight by his side.
Lopate you
look, you should be hiding behind me"
"Heh."
Shanley fired two precise shots, a soft smile on his lips. "Don't worry. No matter how busted I am, I can still protect you."
"Tsk."
Juniper chuckled. She executed a flawless aerial spin kick, sending two advancing guards crashing to the floor.
"Hurt your foot?"
Shanley smoothly caught her by the waist as she landed, his smile infinitely gentle.
"Not bad."
Using his momentum, Juniper leaned back, effortlessly dropping a few guys trying to sneak up behind them.
Seeing his men dropping like flies, Corvus completely snapped. "Kill them! Slaughter all of them!"
Just then.
Two heavily beaten guards flew across the room, groaning as they hit the floor.
Ebony Fox's voice rang out right behind them:
"Who said you could kill my sister?"
"Exactly."
Luella strolled in, dragging a terrified, trembling guard by the collar. She tossed him to the floor with a look of utter disqust, dusting off her hands "Kill Specter Where do you even get the confidence?"
"That's the funniest joke I've heard all year. Hahaha..."
