Chapter 1206
"Marry... marry..."
Theia sat frozen, her red-rimmed eyes staring at her youngest daughter in sheer disbelief.
From the time they had spent with him recently, they knew Shanley was a remarkable young man. However, they had no idea what their dynamic was like behind closed doors.
Furthermore, they had been reunited with their daughter for less than half an hour, and she was already dropping the marriage bomb.
It was like a bolt of lightning out of a clear blue sky.
"Juniper, are you saying you want to marry Shanley?" Theia asked, her voice trembling slightly.
Silas's eyes were equally wide, staring at her in shock. He had the unmistakable look of a father realizing his precious daughter was about to be snatched away.
"Yes." Juniper faced her parents, articulating each word with unwavering conviction. "I've decided he's the one. I'm only marrying him."
"But honey, haven't you only been together-or fighting for a year and a half?" Theia wasn't trying to stop her daughter from finding happiness; she just wanted to understand. Marriage wasn't a game, and she was terrified of Juniper getting hurt.
"We've been at each other's throats for over a year..." Juniper rested her chin on her hand, her clear eyes crinkling into a beautiful arc, a faint smile playing on her lips. "But if you really look at it, we've known each other much longer than that."
They really had crossed paths quite a few times over the years.
Hearing this, Theia's heart gave a nervous flutter.
Jimmie had filled her in on their "enemies-to-lovers" phase. They had genuinely tried to destroy each other. Word on the street was they had nearly killed each other on multiple occasions. If things had gone just slightly differently, she wouldn't even have her daughter right now.
But to go from trying to kill each other to wanting to get married? It was difficult for a normal person to process.
She had asked her other children about it. Her older kids refrained from
commenting, but Melvin had offered his unfiltered opinion:
"Juniper likes pretty faces. If the old fox was ugly, there wouldn't be any 'enemies-to- lovers' romance. He'd just be an enemy buried six feet under."
So... was Juniper only in love with him because he was devastatingly handsome?
"Mom, Dad, I know what you're worried about," Juniper blinked, explaining patiently. "I'm young, and grew up without family, so maybe you think I'm confusing excitement for love, and that im going foruin my life over a whim."
Theia bit her lip, looking sheepish.
That was exactly what she was afraid of, but she hadn't wanted to say it out loud.
"Don't worry. I know exactly what I'm doing." Juniper placed her hand over her mother's, raising a brow with
cool confidence. "If Shanley ever dares to mistreat me or betray me, will personally ruin him."
Hearing this, Theia took a sharp breath, her worries instantly multiplying.
Except now, she wasn't worried about her daughter-she was terrified for Shanley.
Given her daughter's lethal track record, she absolutely meant what she said. If she said she'd ruin him, there wouldn't be enough pieces left to bury.
"Hahaha......." Silas couldn't hold it in anymore, throwing his head back and laughing uproariously.
"What's so funny?" Theia smacked his arm, shooting him a disapproving glare.
"I just knew my daughter-the Boss of Subterra Vanguard-wouldn't be romance." Silas
blinded by Sour
smiled, utterly delighted You're absolutely right. If he steps out of line, you take him down, Juniper. Show no mercy."
Theia frowned, exasperated. What was he laughing at? When she fell for him back
in the day, it was partly because of his face, too!
After catching up, Silas needed to rest. Theia walked Juniper out to the hallway.
"Harold and I are still working on the antidote." Theia's smile faded into deep concern. "Corvus is truly a monster. The chemical breakdown of the toxin is incredibly complex."
That was why he had so confidently handed over a twenty-day supply.
