Chapter 986
Because of that brief chest pain.
Shanley dragged Juniper to the hospital first thing the next morning.
The results came back quickly.
Aside from the fact that she had eaten a bit too much and stretched her stomach, she was in perfectly pristine health.
Her heart was flawless.
"She's been getting sharp pains in her chest recently," Shanley insisted, casting a worried glance at the girl casually swinging her legs on a chair outside the office, looking completely unbothered.
"It might just be a lack of quality sleep," the doctor suggested nervously, reviewing her charts.
"She sleeps perfectly," Shanley replied, his voice dropping into a serious, husky register. "She falls asleep before midnight every night. She tosses and turns a maximum of five times. She doesn't snore, and she doesn't sleep-talk."
The doctor was utterly stunned.
How did Mr. Schwartz know her sleep habits in such obsessive detail?
But then again.
They were publicly engaged. It made sense they shared a bed.
"Could it be that... your activities in the bedroom have been a bit too intense?"
Unable to find any other medical explanation, the doctor ventured boldly.
Ahem.
Sometimes, unbridled passion and physical overexertion could strain the cardiovascular system.
Shanley choked, his face instantly turning a stormy shade of dark green.
He was the one suffering from a lack of sleep! He'd been practicing the patience of
a saint and taking freezing cold showers every night just to keep his hands off her!
"We're done here."
Shanley stood up abruptly and stormed out with a lethal scowl.
"Phew."
The doctor let out a massive sigh of relief, wiping the sweat from his brow before whispering to his assistant.
"Why did Mr. Schwartz suddenly look ready to murder someone?"
"Probably because things aren't going so well in the bedroom," the young assistant speculated sagely. "Did you see how black his face got?"
"Whose fault do you think it is?"
"Mr. Schwartz, obviously," the assistant gossiped confidently. "If everything worked fine down there, he wouldn't have waited until this age to finally get a girlfriend." "Are you suicidal?!"
The doctor frantically clamped a hand over his assistant's mouth, terrified they were about to be assassinated.
...
Out in the hallway.
Juniper leaned back against her chair, her fingers resting against her own wrist as
she checked her pulse for the fourth time.
Her pulse was incredibly strong and perfectly steady.
With this kind of vitality, she could probably wrestle a bear and win.
Which made sense.
Aside from the occasional menstrual cramps, she was basically invincible.
"The medical report says I'm fine. Why do you look so miserable?" Juniper asked, noting his dark expression.
"It's nothing."
Shanley caught her hand, pulling her into his arms with a deeply frustrated sigh. "Kiss me."
"Huh?"
The sudden demand caught her off guard.
Still, she happily obliged.
She went up on her tiptoes and pressed a soft kiss to his lips.
"Let's go."
Shanley took a deep breath, quickly burying his immense frustration.
If he couldn't have the main course, he'd settle for an appetizer.
...
As they walked out to the hospital entrance, they immediately spotted Luella waving excitedly at them.
The faint smile that had just appeared on Shanley's face instantly vanished.
"What is
demane doing here?" Shanley
demanded, glaring at the
devastatingly handsome,
cheerful tuella.
Seeing him first thing in the morning was horrible for his blood pressure.
"I asked him to come," Juniper replied. "There's business with Subterra Vanguard."
"Oh."
Shanley grumbled, reluctantly following her toward the car.
"Good morning, Mr. Schwartz!"
Luella absolutely thrived on seeing
Shanley's murderous glares. The et
angrier Shanley got, the happier Luella was content
Shanley ignored her, his expression screaming: How can it be a good morning when I have to look at you?
"Get in."
Juniper and Luella took the back seat, leaving Shanley to play chauffeur in the front.
Shanley glared at them through the rearview mirror, his eyes burning with intense jealousy.
He had to violently remind himself: Luella likes men. Luella likes men.
"Talk," Juniper said, casually launching a mobile game.
"Right."
Luella's demeanor instantly shifted to pure business. She pulled out a dossier and handed it over. "Sanctum Holdings unexpectedly reached out to us. They want to form an alliance with Subter Vanguard.
"Sanctum Holdings?"
Hearing that name again instantly sparked Juniper's interest.
