Chapter 1408
Chapter 1408:
“Collin…” Her voice trembled, her face etched with anguish. “You finally came.”
The call Collin had received earlier was from Evie, explaining that something had triggered Kylee, leading to self-harm in the bathroom while she repeatedly called out his name.
Faced with Kylee’s pitiful expression, Collin offered no reply. His gaze locked onto hers, his thoughts unreadable.
The heavy silence cast an awkward pall over the room.
The two assistants shared hesitant glances, silently debating their next move. Should they slip away to grant the pair privacy, or remain to tend to Kylee’s injuries?
As the assistants wrestled with their indecision, Evie strode in, shattering the tense quiet and making the choice for them.
“You two, step outside. I need a word.”
Seizing her directive, the assistants swiftly exited the room.
Now, only Collin and Kylee remained in the expansive bathroom.
Kylee’s face still bore a wounded, pitiful look.
She rose unsteadily from the tub, stumbling toward him.
Their eyes met, and Kylee crumpled to the floor, her strength failing. She reached out, her trembling hand brushing his, her tear-filled eyes glistening with sorrow.
“Collin, I know I messed up. It won’t happen again. Please forgive me,” she pleaded, alluding to the deception where she had hidden that Linsey was the woman from the one-night stand.
Collin’s anger had erupted then, not only dismissing Lowell but also confronting Kylee to sever all ties.
She hadn’t anticipated the fallout would spiral so far.

In a desperate bid to reclaim Collin’s favor, she had resorted to self-harm as a final gambit.
Yet Collin remained impassive.
With icy detachment, he pushed her hand away and scowled. “Every time you err, you fall back on this self-pitying act. Aren’t you exhausted by it?” Latest content published on fındnovel.net
“Collin, how can you be so cruel?” Kylee’s voice broke, tears streaming down her face. “I only acted foolishly because my love for you overwhelmed me…”
Collin let out a sharp, bitter chuckle. “Five years ago, when that car accident left me broken”
“…and the Riley family in chaos, you fled overseas to escape me. You, of all people, knew how much I despise deceit, yet you hid the truth time and again.”
His laugh turned scornful. “This is your idea of love?”
Kylee shook her head, tears flowing freely. “Collin, it’s not what you think. Please, let me explain.”
“No need,” he cut her off, his voice cold. His tone grew colder still. “We grew up together, but I’ve never loved you. At best, you were a cherished friend—perhaps like a younger sister. That’s the only reason I overlooked your mistakes time after time. But now, you’ve lost even that.”
