Chapter 1115
Despite how everything looked like a tragic accident, Anastasia just couldn't shake her doubts.
Herman took Anastasia home first. After making sure she was settled, he called Dailey to dig into what really happened to Kim.
When the call was over, Herman stood by the tall window in his study. With all his connections and resources, he knew about worlds most people never even dreamed of.
There are people in this world-fixers for hire. Sometimes the "problem” is a situation. Sometimes, it's a person.
Their specialty? Making everything look like an accident.
In the world of power and politics, this kind of elite "hunting" wasn't rare.
Herman was starting to worry that someone had paid a group like that to stage an accident, targeting Anastasia.
And that someone, he suspected, was Mr. Walker.
On the surface, Mr. Walker was protecting the Salstroms, compromising for Autumn's sake. But deep down, Herman had never trusted the man.
People were complicated. Hearts were unpredictable.
Mr. Walker had swallowed his pride, put up with his wife's betrayal, and even risked his job to protect Autumn. Herman didn't buy it—he couldn't believe anyone would go that far for love.
About twenty minutes later, Dailey called back. "Boss, a group like that did show up in Riverdale not long ago. But we still don't know who they were after."
Herman's voice turned cold. "Find out."
"Yes, boss."
...
Riverdale Inn.
Since arriving in Riverdale, Sandy had been staying at this cozy little hotel. Night had fallen.
Sandy was soaking in the tub when her phone buzzed on the bathroom counter.
She reached out and picked up. "How did it go?"
A disguised voice answered, "It's done. You'll get the news soon."
Sandy grinned. "Nice work. The rest of the payment will be in your account."
The call ended without another word.
Not long after, her phone rang again.
This time it was Sean.
Just as she expected, Sean's voice was heavy with grief. "Sandy, I just got a call from Nabb Mount, Dad.... there's been an accident. He fell off a cliff. He's gone. They say it was an accident."
Of course, Sandy already knew. That phone call she'd made earlier was the order to deal with Tavon.
She hadn't wanted Tavon dead—not at first. She'd hoped he'd just live out his days at Nabb Mount, weighed down by guilt.
But a few days back, Sandy discovered Tavon had secretly moved a huge trust fund from Morton Group, planning to leave it all to Anastasia and Salma.
After her latest business flop, Sandy was buried in debt, and that trust fund was her only way out.
But she and Sean could only get the money if Tavon was gone.
Legally, Anastasia and Salma had no right to the inheritance—they were no longer connected to Tavon.
Ashley was in a coma, and Sean did whatever Sandy said. As soon as Tavon died, the money was as good as hers.
Sandy made her voice tremble, sounding as devastated as she could. "Sean, what did you say happened to Dad?"
“He fell off the cliff,” Sean said. "Sandy, come back to Riverdale. We need to go to Nabb Mount together to take care of the funeral.”
"How could this happen..." Sandy
her voice thick with
Tombow could something
like this happen? I can't believe it?
She managed to sound genuinely heartbroken.
She had to keep up the act-if Sean suspected anything, all her work would be for nothing.
At this point, Sandy was willing to use anyone around her to get what she wanted.
"Sandy, I know you're upset, but..... it's already happened..."
Salma and Anastasia didn't find out about Tavon's accident until a few days later.
By then, Sandy and Sean had
already returned to Riverdale with Tavon's ashes and buried him. Anastasia only heard the news from
a local business partner.
She was floored, refusing to believe it could be true.
How could someone just be gone, just like that?
She'd barely finished sorting out the fallout from Kim's death, and now this. The
shock left her numb, unable to take it all in.
