But the next second, a hand suddenly shot out from the car and dragged Edmundo inside.

In broad daylight. Arabella never expected her car to be tampered with, letting a criminal inside.

The man held a dagger to Edmundo’s neck, forcing her into the car.

For the little boy’s safety, Arabella had to comply.

Late at night, in a warehouse at an abandoned gas station on the outskirts of Zelmere.

Arabella and Edmundo were tied up in two separate warehouses.

Franklin suddenly appeared with bodyguards to rescue his son: “Tell Daddy, does it hurt anywhere?”

The moment the tape was ripped from Edmundo’s mouth, he burst into tears, pointing a small finger at the adjacent warehouse: “Daddy, the bad guys took my godmother in there!”

The color drained from Franklin’s face.

He handed the child to a bodyguard: “Get him out of here first.”

Two bodyguards blocked Franklin: “Mr. Group, we’ve already alerted them. The warehouse next door is full of liquefied gas. It’s too dangerous, you can’t risk going in!”

Before the bodyguard could finish, Franklin was already far ahead.

Inside the warehouse, Arabella’s mouth was sealed with tape, her hands and feet bound to a pillar.

Hearing the attackers beside her discuss breaking her legs and using her as a hostage to escape, Arabella was frozen with terror.

These men were vicious. She wondered how Edmundo was.

As a menacing man raised a club to strike her legs, Arabella shut her eyes in despair.

A sudden scream pierced the air, followed by the sounds of a fight.

When Arabella opened her eyes, the attackers were wailing as they scrambled to flee.

Watching Franklin frantically untie her ropes, Arabella felt a comforting sense of warmth.

So much so that tears began to fall

Seeing Arabella’s tears fall like a broken string of pearls, Franklin couldn’t help but comfort her “Don’t worry, I’m here. I won’t let anything happen to you ”

Arabella endured the pain and ripped the tape from her mouth

She quickly said to Franklin: “Hurry, Edmundo is next door!”

Franklin gently supported her arm, reassuring her: “Don’t worry. Edmundo is already safe. Let’s get out of here first.”

Hearing that the little boy was safe, Arabella finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Just as they turned to leave, a lit lighter was thrown in through a window.

Franklin muttered, “Damn it,” and pulled Arabella toward the door.

Before Arabella could react, a massive explosion erupted behind them, a wave of heat and shrapnel from countless gas canisters hurtling toward them.

In that perilous moment, Franklin shielded Arabella tightly with his body.

“Arabella!”

When Jayceon arrived, he saw both Franklin and Arabella lying amidst the wreckage.

Arabella shook her dizzy head, her eyes opening to Jayceon’s worried face: “What are you doing here?”

Jayceon instinctively lowered his gaze: “I was passing by and saw Mr. Group’s car outside.”

Arabella didn’t overthink it, struggling to push Jayceon away.

Police officers followed closely behind Jayceon to secure the scene.

Jayceon noticed a deep cut on Arabella’s arm. He bent down, scooped her up, and said, “I’m taking you to the hospital.”

Arabella used all her strength to break free from Jayceon and ran to Franklin’s side.

Seeing Franklin lying unconscious on the ground, Arabella was afraid to move him. “Franklin, wake up!”

Arabella burst into tears. “You have a son to raise! Why would you risk your life to save me?!”

Jayceon stared blankly as Arabella hovered helplessly by Franklin’s side, an indescribable feeling twisting in his gut.

Without him, there would still be other men willing to risk their lives to save her, to protect her.

He stared as Arabella sobbed uncontrollably for another man, his reddened eyes filled with unwillingness, despair, and pain.

“Godmother, waaah…”

“Daddy, waaah…”

Crying, Edmundo scrambled out of the car and ran to Arabella and his father.

Arabella pulled Edmundo into her arms, comforting him.

He clenched his fists tightly, suppressing the churning emotions inside him as he walked to Arabella’s side. His usually cold and arrogant voice was now hoarse and low.

He said, “911 will be here soon. He’ll be okay.”

It was as if Arabella hadn’t heard Jayceon at all. She held the little boy, staying by Franklin’s side, calling his name over and over, trying to wake him.

Standing next to Arabella, Jayceon felt completely redundant.

He wanted to be the one to risk his life to protect her, to make it up to her.

But God wouldn’t give him that chance.
