Chapter 121:

“Did you tell her that I’m grounded?” Rosa’s brows arched, her tone sharp.

“I wouldn’t dare, ma’am,” the maid said quickly, bowing her head briefly. Good girl.

Rosa didn’t want the doctor to know she had been grounded by the Alpha King—it would make her look weak, undermining the powerful image she had carefully built.

The maid added, “She also said if you’re not convinced, you can give me a sample of your urine for another test—”

“No, that won’t be necessary.” Rosa cut her off. She would go to the doctor herself. It was fortunate that the same doctor treated Aurora.

She couldn’t wait to give Aurora a slow death and, once it was done, announce the glorious news of her demise.

“What about them?” Disgust tinged Rosa’s voice.

“Oh!” the maid said, quickly picking up on the cue.

“They’re together… again… kissing—”

“Stop!” Rosa shouted, before screaming at the top of her lungs and repeatedly slamming her head against the wall.

She didn’t care if it hurt. It was the price she had to pay for ignoring her uncle’s warning.

She had thought she was smart, but how could she have been so blind? How had she missed the fact that Aurora was slowly taking her place?

“Monitor them closely and report back to me. What about the guards who whipped Aurora?”

“It was reported that the King tore them apart as soon as he saw them.”

That impatient bastard!

Rosa’s anger flared. “You also have a message from Silas, but he insisted the two of you meet privately.”

Not that power-hungry bastard! She could already guess what he’d say—taunting her for being lax and letting Aurora steal her place.

“You may leave now,” Rosa said sternly, before grabbing her maid’s hand as she started to turn away.

Rosa’s fingers dug deep into her maid’s skin, but the maid endured the pain without a word.

“One word about our conversation, and I’ll make sure you never existed,” Rosa warned, her voice low and threatening.

Damon

I couldn’t sleep all night.

For the first time in a long time, the night seemed endless, so long that I was tempted to fast-forward the hands of the clock. I couldn’t wait to see her, to feel her, to speak to her. My heart ached for her presence, my fingers longed for her touch, and my body ached for her warmth.

The thoughts of the moments I spent with her replayed in my mind over and over. I couldn’t stop them, and I couldn’t stop blushing like a fool either.
