Chapter 245
Chapter 245:
“My father’s pack was under a grave attack, one that threatened the lives of hundreds and the very existence of the pack. Desperate to end the assault, I forced my father to allow the Alpha King to intervene, so he could save my father’s pack from extinction and protect us from rebels and rogues.” I felt the sting of tears as they started to fall, tracing the path down my cheeks.
“I should have listened to my father and escaped to my maternal parents’ pack, but it was dangerous. Doing so would have cost my father’s life, the lives of brave warriors, and countless others. My father was gravely injured and in no condition to defend us.”
“The Alpha King wanted me in exchange for protection. We were trapped; he was our only option. Disobedience was a grave offense, and he could wipe out my pack in an instant. To save my loved ones, I became his property for life, until I was framed and cast out of the castle.”
“We’re so sorry, Aurora,” they said in unison, wrapping me in a comforting hug.
“Did he… did he abuse and impregnate you while you were there?” they asked gently.
“No,” I answered, shaking my head. “I became his breeder. He had the right to my body. He needed a son badly to keep the packs together.”
“Doesn’t he have a mate?” Dax asked.
“She died,” I replied quietly. “According to him, she died years ago, on the day his brothers were captured and killed. His mate was heavily pregnant when she drowned in a river. Damon told me he and his brothers used to rule together, and they were feared by most Alphas because of their ruthless reputation.”
The atmosphere in the room grew heavy as we all fell into deep thought.

“As much as I don’t believe this, a small part of me feels like this isn’t a coincidence. I have this strange conviction that it’s true. I just feel it,” Devin said quietly, his voice thoughtful.
My heart skipped a beat at his words.
“How does it feel?” Dax asked.
“I feel like royalty,” I replied. “I don’t know why, but it’s as if I should be in control of a large number of people. I keep having this strange dream that we aren’t complete, that we haven’t fully discovered our true identity. I don’t think this is the life we were meant to live.”
Aurora
My heart skipped a beat as I shot Devin a glance while adjusting in my seat. The atmosphere became tense, making the heat in the room rise. Despite the ventilation, my body broke out in sweat as anxiety took hold of me. My head began to feel light, and my eyelids grew heavy as dizziness set in.
It felt like a part of me was unraveling. My heart could no longer bear the weight of the words being spoken, each one seeming to slice through me, leaving me bleeding inside. I hated that all of my fears and predictions were coming true, and a painful stab echoed in my chest.
Gritting my teeth, I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to suppress the tears that threatened to fall. Slowly, I let them escape, and as my gaze met Dax’s, I rested my eyes on Devin.
Devin cleared his throat before continuing. “Sometimes, I dream about it. Other times, I just feel it. I can’t really explain it, but there was this one day I had a migraine. It was a sunny afternoon, and I had just returned from the river. I saw a rodent drowning. I was about to help it out, but then it felt like a bulldozer crashed into my head.”
My brows arched in curiosity, and I leaned forward, my eyes following the movement of Devin’s hand as it rested on his temple, massaging it as though the migraine was returning.
