Chapter 246:

He stared off into the distance, as though replaying the event in his mind. “I managed to rescue the rodent and guide it into the woods before the pain became unbearable. But then, something strange happened. It didn’t take long before flashes of images filled my mind. It was like a vision—like I was transported to another realm. I couldn’t make sense of it. Events played out in my head, and in that moment, I felt as though the river had taken someone—or something—from me. I didn’t understand why I felt that way.”

I listened intently, feeling a knot tighten in my stomach.

“I left the river, almost blinded by the migraine, and ran home. When I finally made it, I collapsed. A few days later, Dax told me I had been unconscious. But during those days, while I was out, I saw things I can’t explain. I don’t know if I should call it a dream, or if it was from my past. I saw myself, Dax, and another man who looked just like us. We were Kings, and there was a beautiful lady beside us.”

Devin’s jaw tightened as he spoke the last words. “Whenever I tell Dax about these visions, he just laughs it off and mocks me. At one point, I thought I was losing my mind, because nothing made sense. One minute, I was myself, and the next, I felt like I was a lost soul.”

“Who needs to be awakened to my true identity? Sometimes, I recollect words I’ve said in the past, and other times, they might be names of people.”

My heart began to pound as anxiety overwhelmed me. “Can you tell me the words or names?”

“I might not be sure, but I know of Ivy. I remember who she is. I also recall telling my brothers that we would be having a pup. I remember fighting against intruders. That’s all I can say for now, but there’s more.”

I didn’t stop my breath from hitching in shock at his words. Did he just mention Ivy?

I could vividly remember Damon speaking about a mate named Ivy and how she drowned in a river during an attack. The pieces began to click together in my mind. Everything felt connected.

Devin’s story and Damon’s story were like pieces that formed a whole. As much as I didn’t want to believe it, I needed to face the reality. But what if it was just a coincidence? It had to be a coincidence.

Despite my doubts, I tried to console myself, convincing myself that Devin, Dax, and Damon were not related.

“Is everything okay?” Devin asked after noticing my shock.

“Nothing much,” I replied, smiling nervously and looking away from him. I didn’t want him to see how troubled I was.

“But you—”

“Can I speak freely?” Dax interrupted, and I let out a sigh of relief.

I muttered a quick thank you. He had saved me from Devin’s probing questions.

“Sure,” Devin urged, diverting his attention to Dax.

“I feel the same as Devin. I know I’ve always joked about his words, but I feel what he felt. When we woke up from a coma, we couldn’t remember anything. The diamond bracelet on our wrists made us realize we were related—it carried our names and had a crown carved beside it.”

Devin flared as he lunged at Dax, but I was quick to stop him. “To think you made me feel stupid!”
