Chapter 252:

Relief washed over Rosa as she turned the knob, opening the door to reveal Maria.

Maria was Rosa’s handmaid, and though she had carried out Rosa’s dark deeds for years, Rosa never fully trusted her.

“What is it?” Rosa asked sharply, stepping back. “I hope you bring good news, or you’ll regret ruining my morning,” she hissed, her anger evident.

“Good morning, Mistress,” Maria said, bowing briefly, a smile spreading across her face.

Maria extended her hand towards Rosa, offering an envelope.

“What is this about?” Rosa asked, eyeing the envelope before locking eyes with Maria, who hurriedly looked away, fear in her gaze.

Rosa hesitated before taking the envelope, her mind filled with uncertainty. “Who is it from, and what’s inside?” she demanded.

“I don’t know what it says, Mistress,” Maria replied. “But I received it from a guard. He said the message is from your Uncle.”

Rosa’s heart skipped a beat. She quickly snatched the envelope, tearing it open and pulling out a piece of paper.

“Leave!” she ordered, watching Maria walk out of the room. Rosa unfolded the paper, her fingers trembling slightly.

The paper was straightened out, revealing a series of angry, scribbled words.

“Report now!”

The words were few, but they were enough to send a chill down Rosa’s spine. A flood of questions rushed to her mind. It felt as though she could hear Silas’s voice echoing in her head as she read the words again.

She didn’t need anyone to tell her that Silas was furious about something. But what could it be?

Without wasting a moment, Rosa dashed to the bathroom, quickly changed into an orange corset gown, and rushed out of her room.

The hostile atmosphere of the room struck Rosa the moment she opened the door. The air was thick with tension and felt uninviting.

She walked toward the figure standing by the window, holding a glass of whiskey, but she didn’t get too close, uncertain of his next move. The last thing she wanted was shards of glass flying toward her face.

It was as though her legs had a mind of their own as they grew unsteady beneath her.

“What are you standing there for? Waiting for an invitation?” Silas’s angry voice boomed, making Rosa flinch.

Reluctantly, she moved toward him, praying silently that his anger would subside.

“What is this I’m hearing about Damon’s brothers returning?” he asked, his voice sharp.

“What?” Rosa’s brows shot up in surprise as she stared at him, wide-eyed.

“You’re in the castle, yet you can’t see, can’t hear, can’t even notice what’s going on around you. You’re completely useless!” he shouted, throwing the glass against the wall. Rosa quickly ducked and shielded her face as the glass shattered, narrowly avoiding the sharp shards.

“Devin and Dax are back!” Silas spat.
