Chapter 253:

“No, they’re dead!” Rosa fired back.

“You’re so stupid,” Silas muttered, slapping his palm to his forehead in frustration. “You didn’t hear about some strange visitors?”

“I did,” Rosa replied, “but I didn’t think it could be Devin and Dax. They’ve been dead for so long. They were captured. If I remember correctly, you ordered their captors to kill them and burn their bodies the day they were captured. How could they come back if they were burned and buried?”

She couldn’t bring herself to believe it. Surely, this was some sick joke or prank.

“I did order that,” Silas admitted, his voice thick with anger. “But when I heard about their return, I sent word to the pack, and they told me that they escaped.”

“Why didn’t they say anything all these years?” Rosa asked, still in disbelief.

“Because they were scared of what I’d do to them. Damn bastards!” Silas growled, slamming his fist into the wall repeatedly in his frustration.

“This isn’t good,” he continued, his voice low but filled with worry. “The brothers are stronger together. Their return will ruin everything we’ve worked for.

“And worse, Aurora is back. Now we have serious competition.”

It felt as though an arrow had pierced Rosa’s heart when she heard Aurora’s name.

“Aurora is not dead?” she asked, disbelief thick in her voice.

“None of them are,” Silas replied.

“That sneaky bastard,” Rosa hissed, her chest tightening with pain. “Damon would send her out of the castle, but she might reveal the truth, and we’ll be exposed. We can’t be exposed!” Silas emphasized the last part. “We’ve come too far to let our plans be ruined.”

“What do we do, Uncle?” Rosa asked, her voice desperate.

She felt as though the ground beneath her was crumbling. The new turn of events left her confused and blank.

“Make Damon fall for you, get him wrapped around your finger, and ensure Aurora is eliminated. This time, make sure you’re the one to oversee her elimination. Then I’ll strike,” Silas said, his eyes gazing out the window at the fields beyond.

“What about Dax and Devin?”

“I heard they’re in the hospital. They’re in a coma, but not for long. Their memories will be restored soon. You need to act fast before that happens.”

“I’ll do anything.”

Rosa’s heart hardened as she steeled herself for what lay ahead.

“I want them killed.”

Unknown

Disbelief washed over Rosa as she stared into Silas’ cold eyes. Had he really just ordered her to kill Devin and Dax, or were her ears deceiving her?

“But—” Rosa stammered, struggling to find the right words.

“I know it sounds like I’m asking a lot, but we can’t take Damon down if his brothers are alive. They’re stronger together,” Silas said, his voice firm.

Rosa’s face fell as the weight of his words sank in, but at the same time, she couldn’t ignore the consequences. “I’ve never killed anyone, let alone two men!” she half-screamed in frustration.
