Chapter 290
Chapter 290:
“No, you can’t. You don’t own me,” Rosa fired back angrily.
“News flash,” he said, his tone confident, “with the new information I’ve gathered, along with what I already know, I think I own you.”
“There’s no information. You’re just bluffing, and I won’t fall for it,” Rosa snapped.
“Who else is backing you? Because your confidence is starting to get on my nerves.”
“I wish,” he said, sinking back into the comfy bed.
“Out!” Rosa demanded, her chest rising and falling with anger as she clenched her jaw.
“Fine,” Ray said, gathering himself as he stood up, preparing to leave. “Since you don’t want to cooperate, maybe I’ll leave and tell the Alpha Kings that I found the person who murdered their late Luna, Ivy.” He casually began putting on his clothes.
Rosa froze, as if a bucket of cold water had been poured over her. Ray’s words made her tremble, but she hid her fear. She forced a brief smile, but her heart was troubled.
Ray’s words felt like a thunderstorm crashing over her.
“What… what does that mean?” she asked, feigning innocence.
Her heartbeat raced, blood pumping with intensity, but Ray didn’t spare her another glance. He simply continued putting on his briefs, silent.
“Have you gone deaf?” she snapped, her frustration building.
Rosa muttered a silent prayer to the goddess, hoping Ray was talking about someone else.
“Don’t you dare yell at me, unless you want me to tell you how you murdered your best friend,” he said, cackling as shock gripped Rosa. His shirt fell from his hand as he sat on the bed.
“Stop talking nonsense!” Rosa tried to silence him, but her emotions were a whirlwind. Fear and shock consumed her.

How did the bastard find out?
Those words kept ringing in her mind as she scrambled to think of ways to clear her name. She wasn’t guilty unless she confessed—and confession was far from her. She didn’t want him to add Ivy’s murder to the long list he already had on her.
“Nonsense? You of all people should know I only speak the truth. You’re guilty!” he accused.
Rosa’s heart skipped two beats, as if the entire world was crumbling around her. Someone must have told him the truth. But who could it be? Only her uncle knew about her dirty deeds.
Rosa’s eyes widened in shock as realization dawned on her.
Silas must have told him. That bastard!
Were they working together?
How dare he betray her?
Was that the reason he never listened to her complaints about Ray?
But admitting to his charges was the last thing she would do. Rosa could feel the air in the room change, and it was as if her head were spinning.
Yet, she managed to keep herself together.
“Look, I know the stress of trying to bring me down is taking its toll on you, making you imagine things. It’s understandable,” she said, trying to regain control. “But don’t ever say I killed my best friend. How could I even think of taking Ivy’s life? She was a sweet soul, and she meant the world to me…”
