Chapter 82
Chapter 82:
The air in the room grew tense as I refused to look at Alex, who sat by the edge of the bed, watching me.
“Why did you do that?” Her accusatory voice lashed at me, making my face harden with anger.
“So it was you who revived me,” I replied, my tone laced with rage.
“Stop talking like that. I did you a favor!” she exclaimed in disbelief.
“You should have left me the hell alone. I don’t fucking need your favor. I was fine where I was!” I screamed, ignoring the pounding headache.
“A thank you would have gone a long way.”
“Why did you bring me back?” I cried softly. “Why did you want me to continue living in torment? I was just a few steps away from embracing the light, but you dragged me back because of your sick hospitality.”
“I came back to ask what you would like for dinner. Moreover, the King would have my head if something happened to you.”
“Well, fuck the King!” I exclaimed in anger, making her gasp.
“Don’t say that. You could be in trouble,” she tried to hush me, but I shrugged her off.
“I don’t care. I just want to die. I don’t like it here.”
“I’m sorry,” she lowered her gaze, apologetic.
“When you next see me try to take my life, don’t revive me. Let me embrace happiness,” I warned, turning my back on her as I stared at the white wall in silence. As soon as I recovered, the bastard wouldn’t stop demanding my body.
Clutching the tray with a cup of coffee in my hands, I made my way to the Alpha King’s office.

I halted when the guards opened the door, then walked in, placing the cup of espresso on the table. Once I had finished, I turned to leave, afraid of his demands.
“Follow me!” he ordered, walking away from his office after pocketing his phone.
Anger swelled in my chest as I glanced at the cup of coffee he had left unattended.
How dare he waste my effort?
I shut the door behind me, walking after him as he took a shortcut to his garage, opening the car door before signaling for me to get in. What was it this time?
Was he about to make love to me in his car?
“I don’t like what you’re wearing.”
The engine of the car roared to life, and he zoomed off, ignoring the greetings from his guards.
We hadn’t gone far when a strange smoke in the car caught his attention.
He turned off the engine, his focus fixed on the thick cloud of smoke rising into the sky.
I could tell he was mind-linking his Beta and alerting everyone else about the unusual event.
“Stay here,” he instructed, leaving the car and heading toward the direction of the smoke to investigate.
I was about to rest my head against the window, boredom creeping in, when an idea popped into my head.
