Chapter 926
"He's dead! What more do you want from him?"
Felicia didn't believe her. She looked at the man lying motionless in a pool of dried blood. Seeing his mangled state, a flicker of emotion crossed her face. She stepped closer to inspect him.
Suddenly, Dorian sprang from the floor with a terrifying burst of adrenaline. He tackled Felicia to the ground. In that split second, Leonie pulled a fruit knife and pressed the blade directly against Felicia's throat.
"Tell them to get a car ready..." Dorian rasped, his voice barely a whisper.
Following his lead, Leonie held the blade steady against the woman's neck. With just a fraction of pressure, a thin line of blood welled up. Wincing in pain, Felicia frantically yelled at her men, "Get the car! Do it now!"
Her bodyguards froze, terrified to make a move while their boss was held hostage. Leonie pressed the blade harder, the blood trickling down Felicia's skin. Panic seized her.
"Do what they say! Hurry!"
Leonie and Dorian forced Felicia out of the basement and up to the surface. A bodyguard pulled a black SUV around to the front.
Dorian leaned in and whispered weakly in Leonie's ear.
"Get in the car. Go."
"We leave together!" Leonie insisted.
Dorian nodded. "Let's move her toward the doors."
Felicia was forced to walk alongside them, absolutely seething with rage, but the knife at her throat kept her compliant.
"Don't think this means you're free," Felicia hissed. "Even if you drive off, I will hunt you down. I can let Leonie go, but you, Dorian, are never leaving my sight alive."
"I never planned on leaving you," Dorian wheezed. "Promise you'll let Leonie go, and I'll stay with you."
With a blade to her neck, Felicia was in no position to negotiate. It wasn't that Dorian was buying time-he was actively sacrificing himself to hold her back.
The second Leonie climbed into the driver's seat, the bodyguards swarmed Dorian, slamming him brutally into the concrete.
In her panic, Leonie slammed her foot on the gas. It wasn't until she had sped down the block that she realized the passenger seat was empty.
It hit her like a physical blow-Dorian had tricked her so she could escape. She couldn't leave him behind in that monster's hands. As Felicia watched the SUV speed off, she immediately ordered her men to beat Dorian to a pulp.
Dorian had no fight left in him. He was soaked in his own blood. The sickening scent of infected wounds radiated off him, making even the enforcers recol. But Felicia showed zero mercy She personally kicked him in his strikingly handsome face, obliterating the features she had once obsessed over.
"Traitorous scum! You threw your life away to save that bitch, and you still have the nerve to lie about staying with me? Even if you meant it, I wouldn't take you now. Leonie is gone, and I don't care about her anymore, but I am going to end your miserable life."
Just as Felicia prepared to deliver a fatal blow, the screech of tires echoed through the lot. Leonie had come back. As she threw the car into park and lunged out, the bodyguards instantly restrained her. Dorian's eyes shot wide open in his final moment of consciousness.
"Leonie... why did you come back?"
With that, he passed out entirely.
Leonie was dragged back down into the basement, but this time, Dorian wasn't
thrown in with her. She had no idea where Felicia had taken him.
A short while later, Felicia
swaggered into the room. "Miss Everhart, you can't even save
yourself, let alone that idiot. You told me everyone fears the Everharts. Well just called your parents. If
they don't cough up $150 million
you are never seeing the light of day again."
Leonie stared at her in utter shock. Her hands were bound tightly behind her back, and the guards shoved her roughly to the floor, indifferent to her status.
"Are you out of your mind? My family won't give you that kind of money! Dorian said he only owed you fifty million!"
Felicia sneered.
"He spent fifty million of my money, but he was with me for years. Are you telling me the precious Everhart heiress is worth less than a common escort?
"His life pays off his debt. As for your life, we'll see if your parents think you're worth the price tag."
"You know exactly who Hawthorne is!" Leonie screamed. "If you try to extort him, you're signing your own death warrant!"
Felicia laughed coldly.
"Hawthorne isn't even in Greenvale. We both know he won't make it back in time to save you. I'm dealing directly with your mom and dad."
Hearing that Felicia was targeting Mr. and Mrs. Everhart, Leonie's bravado shattered.
"Leave my parents out of this! They have nothing to do with it! This is between us!"
Felicia gave her a mocking grin.
"Between us? Tell me, how exactly
are you going to produce a hundred million dollars on your own? You
have to ask daddy
for it, you're justa
spoiled brat if it weren't for you, Dorian wouldn't be a broken mess right now. He could have just stayed my man, but you had to promise him a fairy-tale future.
"Save your breath, Miss Everhart. I'm calling your parents right now, and you are
going to play along. If you don't, Dorian is going to be a corpse by tomorrow morning. Your choice."
