The Amazing son in law Chapter 1134
Jordan nodded, letting out a sigh as he remarked, “Imagine if we could get two catties of wine! We could soak the ginseng in it and enjoy a sip to warm ourselves while on the mountain. That would be fantastic!”
Jeffrey responded, “You know, Leanne, the widow from the village, seems to have some wine-making skills. I’ll talk to her when I get the chance. Who knows? She might have some stashed away at home.”
As father and son continued their walk, chatting to keep warm against the biting cold wind, they eventually reached the village entrance after more than thirty minutes.
Instead of heading straight to their rundown house, they made their way to Mr. Lange’s place, the village hunter, shrouded in darkness.
Though the residents at the base of Mount Golim were impoverished, they were resourceful and managed to get by.
In the past, village folks would frequently venture into the mountains to hunt, but most of the younger generation had left, leaving only a few who still pursued hunting.
Mr. Lange was the last professional hunter in the village. If anyone wanted meat, they would have to barter with him using money or other goods.
Jeffrey had been longing for some meat, but their poverty made it tough to secure enough food, let alone extras to trade with the hunter.
Today, he felt particularly greedy, especially since Mr. Lange had recently hunted a roe deer. Determined, Jeffrey resolved to bring home some meat.
When they arrived outside Mr. Lange’s house, Jeffrey peered over the wall and spotted pieces of deer meat hanging in the yard.
Excitedly, he whispered to his father, Jordan, “You should crouch down so I can step on your shoulders to climb over the wall.”
Jordan, equally eager, quickly squatted against the wall, allowing Jeffrey to use him as a boost to scale the barrier into the yard.
In no time, Jeffrey managed to grab a leg of roe deer and secured it around his waist as he climbed back out.
Once outside, he exclaimed to his father, “This leg must weigh around ten catties! We’ll have enough to eat for a whole week!”
“That’s fantastic!” Jordan replied, clapping his hands in sheer joy.
Having gone days without meat, this bounty was a cause for celebration for them. The father and son were thrilled and ready to head home.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, a group of about a dozen masked figures in black emerged from the shadows.
The sight was terrifying; many brandished knives, while others had pistols in hand.
Both father and son were taken aback. Jeffrey, trembling, stammered, “Guys, we were just trying to grab a bit of meat. No need to go overboard!”
Jordan, equally frightened, urged Jeffrey, “What are you waiting for? Return the meat!”
In a hurry, Jeffrey dropped the deer leg and began to plead for mercy. “Please, sirs! Show us some compassion!” ɴᴇᴡ ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀʀᴇ ᴘᴜʙʟɪsʜᴇᴅ ᴏɴ Find~Novel.net
The group surrounded them, and one of the masked individuals spoke up, “Are you Jordan and Jeffrey Weaver?”
Jordan, still dazed, nodded and asked, “Yes, what do you want with us?”
The man replied coldly, “We come on behalf of the Webb family from Southaven to rescue you. There’s a car waiting at the village entrance. Come with us, and we’ll take you back to Aurous Hill!”
Stunned, both father and son stood speechless for a moment before tears began to flow.
They exchanged glances, overwhelmed with emotion as they wept together, realizing they might actually be leaving this place behind!
In gratitude, they knelt on the ground, crying, “Thank you, brothers! Your kindness will forever be remembered by us!”
