Chapter 101
Chapter 101:
Fernanda cleared her throat, her voice ringing out loudly. “Hey, Bobby!”
The sudden call startled Bobby, making him flinch as though jolted by an electric shock.
Was he hearing things? Could that really be his angel’s voice? As he turned his head slowly, his doubts melted away. It wasn’t a trick of the mind—it was her.
His eyes landed on Fernanda, but what caught him completely off guard was the girl standing beside her. His breath hitched. Rubbing his eyes, he stumbled back a step, struggling to process what he was seeing.
“What’s going on?” he murmured under his breath. “Why is Wendy here?”
“What’s wrong, Mr. Harper?” A soft voice broke through his spiral of confusion. The beautiful woman who had been trailing him stepped closer. “Weren’t you going inside to meet someone? Why are you just standing here?”
“You…” Bobby spun around, his brow furrowing as he faced her.
Without giving her a chance to protest, he ushered her toward the roadside, his hands firm on her shoulders. “I’ve got something to handle,” he said hastily. “You go ahead. I’ll catch up later.”
This was infuriating. He had come here alone for a reason, yet this woman had clung to him the entire time, refusing to take the hint.
“Oh, Mr. Harper, I…”
“Are you leaving or not?” Bobby’s expression hardened. “If you don’t leave right now, don’t even bother contacting me again.”
Her face fell, startled by his sudden coldness. “Alright, alright, don’t—”
“Get upset,” she stammered. “I’m leaving, okay?”

With reluctance, she walked away, throwing him wounded glances over her shoulder.
Her plan to tag along until he was done, hoping for some time together afterward, crumbled into disappointment.
“Why’d you chase her off?” Fernanda sauntered over, a sly grin tugging at her lips. “She looked like she didn’t want to leave. Cold much, Bobby?”
Bobby scratched the back of his head, his face flushing red as guilt crept in.
He and Fernanda were there for the same reason.
After hearing Wendy had turned up at the police station, Bobby had rushed over, only to find her with his angel. What was annoying was that they both saw him with another woman in tow!
What kind of disaster was this?
His eyes darted to Wendy, who casually held a cigarette between her fingers, her face turned slightly away. The derision in her expression was unmistakable.
“Haha.” Bobby laughed nervously, the sound brittle. “She was just someone I gave a ride to—purely coincidental. We’re not close. Not at all.”
