Chapter 123
Chapter 123:
Fernanda could guess what was on his mind. He wasn’t nervous about being involved himself, but because someone close to him might be.
Like Michelle, for example.
No one knew Michelle’s feelings toward Fernanda better than Ector did. Long before Fernanda came back home, Ector had already heard Michelle voice her concerns time and time again.
She would say that with Fernanda’s return, another heir had entered the picture, which could threaten her children’s interests. Thus, it was possible that Michelle was behind all of this.
“Don’t worry,” Fernanda reassured him. “No matter who’s behind this, it won’t change anything between us. You’re my brother, and that’s what matters.”
In other words, even if Michelle was the one pulling the strings, Fernanda wouldn’t hold it against Ector.
Ector gave a small nod. He figured that if Michelle was behind it, he’d make it right as her son. He’d be a better brother to Fernanda and do what he was supposed to do.
Ector took Fernanda to a cozy restaurant, where they enjoyed a hearty steak dinner. Afterward, they made their way down to a nearby bar for a couple of drinks before heading home together.
Once they were back home, Ector turned to Fernanda with a soft smile.
“You should get some rest tonight. I’ll take you to school tomorrow.” Fernanda nodded in agreement.
As she lay in bed, she pulled out the recording pen and switched it on. Just as she expected, the recording revealed Rosita calling someone and mentioning that she’d been exposed.
To find out who was on the phone with Rosita, Fernanda listened to her words carefully.
I@te$t ¢#@pter$ In g@!novel$.c0m
Rosita’s voice came through the recorder. “Yes, she said it was Bobby who told her to do it. I don’t believe it either. Fine, you go confirm if he’s involved. I’m sure he wouldn’t lie to you. Alright, I’ve got it. I’ll wait for your response.”
Fernanda couldn’t make out the other person’s voice, but from Rosita’s words, it was obvious that the person on the other end was someone close to Bobby.
The answer was clear—it was Judie.
Fernanda hadn’t seen Judie since the Harper family’s banquet.
Back then, Judie had made her dislike for Fernanda clear. Fernanda had thought Judie would try to mess with her relationship with Bobby.
But Judie never made a move.
Now, it all made sense. Judie hadn’t been open about her intentions; instead, she had taken a more subtle route.
