Cristian smiled warmly. “You guessed it. Open it and let me know what you think.”
With eager fingers, she untied the ribbon and lifted the lid. To her surprise, inside wasn’t a small, dainty gift but a hefty stack of documents.
She flipped open the first page, her eyes widening in shock. She turned to Cristian, her voice faltering as she searched for the right words. “This… uh…” she stammered, utterly stunned.
Cristian’s smile remained steady, as warm and confident as ever. “Do you like it?” he asked.
Fernanda sighed, quickly tossing the documents back into the box and closing the lid with a soft snap.
“It’s too much, Cristian. I can’t take it,” she replied, her voice soft but firm.
She couldn’t quite wrap her mind around it. Inside that box wasn’t just any item—it was an entire company acquisition contract. Cristian had purchased Bright Lights Media, the same company she had toured just the day before.
The contract clearly listed the purchaser’s name in black and white: Fernanda Morgan.
In other words, Cristian had bought the company and made it a gift to her.
Gifting an entire company for a birthday? There was no doubt it was an extravagant gesture.
But Cristian didn’t seem to mind her initial reluctance. He shrugged lightly and gave her a reassuring look. “Come on. Just tell me—do you like it?”
Fernanda sighed. Of course, she did like the gift. She’d been on the verge of breaking into the media world, and here was Cristian, handing her a company—like finding an oasis when you’re dying of thirst. Who wouldn’t love that?

Cristian gave a soft chuckle at her firm refusal. “Relax, you don’t need to worry so much. The Reed family runs plenty of businesses, but none of them are in media or entertainment. I bought this company because I’m interested in the industry; it’s a great opportunity for me. But my family… well, they’d rather I stick to the world of finance and economics. They’re not exactly sold on the media sector.”
Fernanda stayed quiet, listening as Cristian went on. “Any shift in my business ventures is easy for my family to trace. If they find out I bought this company under my name, they’ll definitely ask questions, and I really don’t feel like explaining myself.”
