Chapter 138:

Bobby was the first to break the silence, letting out an awkward laugh and saying, “Wow, seems like I picked the wrong time to visit. Looks like I’m interrupting…”

“What brings you here?” Cristian asked, his tone calm.

“Oh, just passing by, thought I’d pop in. But since you’ve got company, I’ll head out,” Bobby said, turning to leave. He gave Fernanda a nod and added, “Bye, won’t intrude on your time with my cousin.” He was in and out in a flash, barely spending a minute in the room.

Cristian followed Bobby to the door, and Bobby pulled him outside, making sure to shut the door with a firm click behind them.

With a playful grin, he punched Cristian lightly on the shoulder. “Well, you’re really something. You’ve got my angel at your place already. Should I start thinking about your wedding gift?”

Cristian said nothing and just watched Bobby with a steady gaze. If Bobby knew his “angel” was actually the fiancée he so casually dismissed, what would he respond?

Cristian had mentioned before that she was his fiancée, but Bobby hadn’t taken him seriously.

“So, do you like her?” Cristian asked out of the blue.

Bobby quickly waved his hands in protest, thinking Cristian might be jealous. “No, it’s nothing like that. I just admire her, really. Nothing more to it.”

He knew better than to even think about competing with his cousin for her—he wasn’t that foolish.

Besides, Bobby knew full well that he was not worthy of her.

Cristian gave a smile, patting Bobby’s shoulder lightly.

“So, uh… should I leave now?” Bobby asked, his voice uncertain.

Cristian nodded, his gaze dropping slightly.

Bobby walked away, glancing back every few steps with a smirk on his face. As he reached the elevator, he turned to Cristian, giving him an encouraging thumbs-up. “You’ve got this.”

Once he’d seen Bobby off, he walked back into the room and asked, “It’s your birthday today. Anything special you want to eat?”

“Anything works for me,” Fernanda said with a shrug. “As long as it’s food, I’m not picky.”

Cristian nodded in agreement. “Then let’s just stay in for dinner. How does that sound? Afterward, I’ll take you back to school.”

“That sounds great,” Fernanda replied.

At first, she thought Cristian was talking about ordering takeout, but to her surprise, he had plans to cook the meal himself.

He pulled ingredients from the fridge and started preparing them, his movements smooth and practiced.
