Rosita clicked open the email, and her eyes widened in disbelief.

Her hand trembled, causing her coffee cup to shake and spill, splashing dark liquid across her pristine white suit. The stain appeared almost immediately.

“This…” Rosita stared at the personnel change notice, shocked into silence.

The top line of the notice said that Fernanda Morgan would be taking over as the new general manager of Bright Lights Media.

“So, Rosita, I guess we’re colleagues now,” Fernanda said, smiling at her. “I’m really looking forward to working with you.”

Rosita narrowed her eyes at Fernanda’s fake smile, her forehead creasing with annoyance.

“How did you manage this?” Rosita asked, her curiosity mixed with disbelief.

How had Fernanda become the new general manager of Bright Lights Media in just a few days?

Acquiring a company, especially one as sizable as Bright Lights Media—despite it not being publicly listed—was no small feat.

Usually, an acquisition like this would take months, or even years, to pull off. Yet Fernanda had done it in a matter of days. This hinted that she must have an incredibly efficient team supporting her, probably an influential financial group.

“Don’t concern yourself with how I did it. The important thing is, I’m now the general manager,” Fernanda said. “And you will follow my instructions from now on, won’t you?”

Rosita, though clearly reluctant, answered, “Yes.”

Fernanda’s comment about them being colleagues had been a joke. They weren’t equals—Fernanda was in a higher position.

As she stood there, Rosita felt a swirl of emotions. She eyed the young woman before her, not yet twenty, and wondered at the depth of her strength.

After a pause, she asked, “You said I should follow your instructions. So, what exactly is it that you want me to do?”

“It’s simple,” Fernanda said. “I need two public announcements made under the name of Entertainment Today. First, announce that I’ve officially taken on the role of general manager at Bright Lights Media. Second, issue a formal apology from Entertainment Today, directed to me as the new general manager.”

After giving her instructions, Fernanda pressed, “Get on it right away. I’m waiting to see it happen.”
