Chapter 172
Chapter 172:
With a reluctant nod, Waldo agreed.
Fernanda handed the file back to him and quickly walked away. Waldo pouted once more. He was convinced that Fernanda was being stubborn and didn’t grasp the bigger picture.
How could she pass up such a golden opportunity to capitalize on the current hype?
Despite everything, Waldo went ahead and published the news.
Later, at lunch, Fernanda came across the news.
Fantastic! On her very first day, someone had already brushed off her instructions. Typical Waldo.
As Fernanda ate, she scrolled through a small internal company forum, where employees often vented their frustrations anonymously. Though no one directly named him, she could tell from a subtle reply that the person being criticized was Waldo.
He was a yes-man to the higher-ups, kept his distance from colleagues, acted arrogantly, and showed blatant sexism—everything that would ruin his relationships with others.
Fernanda saw no reason to keep someone like him in the company.
Since Waldo had ignored her instructions, she wasn’t about to let him get away with it. She was ready to teach him a lesson in her own way.
That evening, Waldo was at the bar, drinking with a group of friends. Among them, only three worked in the news department, while the rest were from other teams.
While scrolling through his phone, one of Waldo’s colleagues noticed the post he had shared and couldn’t resist asking, “Hey Waldo, didn’t you mention at lunch that Miss Morgan told you not to post this news? Why’d you go ahead and do it?”
Waldo chugged his beer in one go and scoffed. “Just because she told me not to, I’m supposed to follow her orders? Who does she think she is?”
“Wow, Waldo, you’re brave!” another friend teased. “You’re not even listening to the new boss? Aren’t you worried she’ll come after you?”

“She doesn’t know anything!” Waldo sneered. “She just orders me around because she’s the boss. Come on, does she know what it’s like to actually run a company? What does she know about the media world? Nothing. She pretends to have integrity, but it’s all just a show!” His disdain deepened. “She’s only in this position because of a man. Now she’s acting like she’s the queen of the world. Pathetic. Isn’t she just lucky to have a rich fiancé? Without him, she’d be nothing. A woman like that, even if she tried to charm me, I wouldn’t give her a second look!”
“What if Miss Morgan calls you out tomorrow?” a colleague asked. “I’ve heard she’s not the type to let things slide.”
“If she dares come at me, I’ll shove the numbers right in her face!” Waldo slurred, clearly drunk. “I want her to see how great this story is. Look at the views and comments—when she sees it, she’ll be begging me for advice.”
