“He’s critically hurt and in surgery right now. Please come right away. His life is at risk.”
The call ended abruptly, leaving Alex in stunned silence.
Frantically, he ran his fingers through his disheveled hair. The revelation of Neal’s critical condition slowly sank into his mind. His heart hammered in his chest.
“This is awful!” Alex yelled, his voice cracking with panic. “Levi! Gifford! Get up, something’s happened!”
The sharpness of Alex’s shout cut through the silence, instantly rousing Levi and Gifford from their sleep.
“What’s all this noise in the middle of the night?” Gifford groggily asked, rubbing his eyes.
Alex’s hands were shaky as he quickly patted them, his voice tight with worry. “I just got a call from the hospital. Neal’s badly hurt and they’re trying to save him. They want us to come right away!”
“What?!” Levi shot upright, eyes wide with shock. “Where is he? What happened?”
“The call came from Esaham Central Hospital. But they didn’t explain the details. What should we do?”
“We need to get there fast,” Gifford replied, already pushing himself out of bed.
They grabbed the clothes off the chairs, didn’t bother with their shoes, and rushed out the door.
The moment they stepped out of the dorm, Gifford stopped. “Hold on,” he muttered, quickly turning back. He darted to the desk, yanked open the drawer, and slipped the two bank cards from the bottom into his pocket.
It was just after three in the morning, and the campus was eerily still. The trio sprinted all the way to the campus gate, standing there in silence for over five minutes before finally managing to hail a cab. As the taxi sped toward Esaham Central Hospital, their nerves were on edge.
When they reached the hospital and spoke to a nurse, they were shocked to learn that Neal had been assaulted.

“Assaulted? By who?” Alex’s voice shook with fury as his eyes darkened. “Once Neal wakes up, I’ll hunt down the person who did this and make them regret it!”
“I can’t believe it. Neal never had any enemies. Who would do this to him?” Gifford muttered, deep in thought. “Do you think he got into some kind of argument last night?”
“Only Neal could clarify the situation for us.” Levi leaned back, his voice quiet but firm. “Right now, all we can do is pray he pulls through. When he wakes up, we’ll ask him. And whoever did this to him… they won’t get away with it.”
Both Alex and Gifford gave a determined nod.
Just then, another nurse approached and asked them to settle the medical bill.
Levi glanced at the receipt, his face twisting in disbelief. “What the hell? This is insane!”
