Chapter 222:

Erika, however, was indifferent to the timing or consequences; she aimed to disgrace Fernanda.

Judie was the first to snatch the phone from Erika. Upon hearing the news, she felt a rush of excitement, almost eager to end the engagement immediately!

But as she looked at the screen, she saw only a dark image with an indistinct shape, barely discernible as a moon in the corner.

“I can’t see anything,” Martin said after examining the phone. Robert and Michelle leaned over, trying to discern any details, but all they saw were vague shapes.

“Could this be a misunderstanding?” Robert clung to hope. “I believe this is just a rumor. Fernanda wouldn’t be secretly seeing any other guys.”

“Yes, the photo is too dark. It could be someone’s joke,” Michelle added. “We can’t draw any conclusions until we see who is involved.”

Erika seized the moment. “Okay, I’ll brighten the photo so everyone can see clearly.”

Robert wished he could silence Erika. Didn’t she know when to stop?

Bobby, meanwhile, was secretly relieved.

He had arrived prepared to sever the engagement, armed with excuses concocted with his mother. Now, it seemed Fernanda might inadvertently resolve the situation for him.

It appeared that luck was on his side.

“I hope this is just someone’s idea of a joke,” Judie said, unable to hide the satisfaction in her voice. “But if this turns out to be true, I’ll have to rethink my son’s engagement. I can’t let him marry someone like that!”

Even Martin found himself without a rebuttal.

The room grew tense instantly. Robert started sweating, silently praying that Fernanda had not actually misbehaved. And Martin shared the same concern.

Judie, Bobby, Michelle, and Erika seemed almost eager to reveal what they believed to be Fernanda’s true nature, looking forward to seeing her fall from grace.

Cristian, however, remained aloof, observing them with a look of disdain.

Things had unfolded precisely as Fernanda had intended.

Erika’s face drained of color after she adjusted the photo’s exposure enough for them to identify the people in it. Then she exclaimed in disbelief, “This can’t be true!”

Her phone slipped from her grasp and hit the floor with a loud thud.

“Erika, what’s going on?” Michelle asked, her voice filled with concern. From Erika’s expression, it was obvious that something was wrong with the photo. Earlier, Erika had told Michelle that Ava had someone keep an eye on Fernanda and capture her in a compromising situation with another man.

“What’s happening here?” Robert asked, unable to hide his worry.

Erika’s face went pale, and her heart began to race. She bent down to grab her phone, but her hands shook so violently that it slipped from her grasp, as if it were made of butter. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t get a grip on it.

“Give me the phone,” Robert said, his tone cold.
