Chapter 221
Chapter 221:
“What an attitude!” Selma criticized, displeased by Fernanda’s aloof manner. “She always looks so down, as if the world has wronged her. She never smiles when she speaks to us, completely lacking in manners!”
Hearing this, Fernanda paused on the stairs and turned, offering a sweet smile. “Is it so bad not to smile often? If it pleases you, I could smile for you every day.”
Fernanda’s smile was undeniably beautiful. Yet, Selma felt an unsettling chill each time she saw it.
It dawned on her that Fernanda always wore that smile during their confrontations.
Without another word, Selma looked away.
Fernanda then headed back to her bedroom.
By six in the evening, the Harper family had arrived. Martin and Judie were there, along with Bobby and Cristian.
Cristian had been brought along by Bobby, who needed support to endure the tense atmosphere.
Robert and Michelle welcomed them with warmth, and Robert, in particular, was pleasantly surprised to see Cristian.
He took great pride in it.
“Mr. Reed, please make yourself comfortable,” Robert said warmly. He then signaled to Ector and said, “Ector, our guests are here. Please get your siblings to come down.”
Erika and Kevin promptly descended, but there was no sign of Fernanda.
Bobby sat quietly on the sofa, deliberately avoiding looking toward the staircase.
“Why hasn’t Fernanda come down yet? What is she thinking?” Robert’s mood soured.
How could she keep the guests waiting? It was disrespectful and embarrassing.

Martin, however, remained composed, and with a reassuring smile, suggested, “Let’s not hurry her.”
Robert managed a forced smile but internally decided he would need to address Fernanda’s etiquette after the Harpers left.
Erika, ever the instigator, interjected, “Well, she’s probably too embarrassed to face anyone!”
Robert’s brows knitted in confusion, and he asked, “Erika, what are you implying?”
Erika sneered, “Her little escapade has been exposed. Have you ever wondered why she insists on staying at school? It’s because it makes her dalliances more convenient! She’s nothing but a flirt!”
“Erika!” Ector interjected sharply. “What nonsense are you talking about?”
“I’m telling the truth; people have seen it!” Erika retorted, pulling out her phone and showing a photo. “Look at this. She’s meeting someone secretly. That man can’t be Bobby, can it?”
Robert’s face flushed with anger, his fists clenched in frustration.
He was outraged, not just with Fernanda but also with Erika. Was this really the time to make such accusations, in front of the Harper family? What if they decided to break off the engagement?
