A cold sneer escaped Fernanda as she dismissed the assurances as absurd.
“Are these not the same grand promises you’ve made before?” Fernanda’s voice grew colder. “Erika has acted the same way time and again. Since I came back to the Morgan family, she’s been constantly provoking me. Even a saint would have their breaking point. Are you saying she’s so gullible that she can’t think for herself? Does she believe every bit of gossip about me without question?”
Determined, Fernanda refused to cut Erika any slack today, making her stance clear to everyone.
Robert was aware of Fernanda’s anger, but with the Harpers around, it wasn’t the appropriate moment for such a discussion. A public dispute between his daughters would only serve to embarrass him further.
Attempting to defuse the tension, Robert assured Fernanda in a soothing voice, “Please, Fernanda, I’ll talk to Erika. Let’s not dwell on this now. It won’t happen again.”
Fernanda’s gaze dropped, and she remained silent.
The light from the crystal chandelier cast deep shadows under her eyelashes, lending her a gloomy and melancholic appearance.
Martin, observing the scene, furrowed his brow in concern.
He wondered if this was typical of how the Morgans overlooked Erika’s mistakes. No wonder Erika felt emboldened to make such unfounded accusations against her sister.
Robert’s and Michelle’s assurances seemed like nothing more than empty promises. Martin was disappointed to see Fernanda receiving such dismissive treatment after being wronged.
If only they had genuinely corrected Erika just once, she might not have continued her misbehavior.

Noticing Bobby lost in thought, Martin cleared his throat, snapping Bobby back to the present. Although he had been distracted, Bobby had overheard what Robert and Michelle were saying.

“It’s fine,” Robert quickly responded. “Bobby’s concern for Fernanda is clear, and that’s appreciated.”
Michelle laughed nervously, masking her discomfort.
She swiftly came to her daughter’s defense. “Truly, Erika means no harm. She’s simply too trusting and easily misled. Once she stops associating with Ava, I assure you, incidents like this won’t recur. Have faith in her; she’ll prove herself…”
