Without thinking, Fernanda found herself looking at Cristian. She wasn’t entirely sure why, but her instinct was to check his reaction.
Cristian’s surprise quickly faded, replaced by a subtle smile that appeared at the edges of his lips. He slowly lifted his wine glass and took a soft sip, almost lazily.
He didn’t look at Fernanda, acting as if they were complete strangers. While Fernanda was still trying to understand why Martin had suddenly proposed the engagement ceremony, she felt a soft tap on her foot beneath the table.
Given that Cristian was sitting to her right, she figured it was probably him.
Seeing Fernanda react, Cristian nudged her foot once more, gently and repeatedly, almost as if he was playfully teasing her.
It felt like he was answering her unspoken thoughts, and just like that, Fernanda’s irritation seemed to melt away.
He appeared to be done with his meal, leaning back in his chair with a relaxed smile that suggested he didn’t have a care in the world.
“What made you decide to arrange an engagement for Bobby out of nowhere, Uncle Martin?” Cristian asked casually. “I’ve never heard him mention anything about it.”
“Well, it was just a spur-of-the-moment idea,” Martin answered. “I thought an engagement ceremony might clarify their relationship to the public.”
Cristian turned to Judie and asked, “Is this what you want, Aunt Judie?”
Judie’s expression tightened, clearly not happy with the situation. How could she possibly be okay with this? But she knew she couldn’t go against Martin. Once he made up his mind, there was no room for her to disagree.
Typically, Judie and Martin shared a strong and loving marriage, with Martin always being the perfect husband—caring, attentive, and patient.
So, when Martin made such a request, she found herself at a loss for words, unsure of how to respond.
She had fought with him before, even threatened divorce, but Martin was unfazed, stubbornly set on pairing Bobby and Fernanda. Judie genuinely didn’t know what to do anymore.

Robert couldn’t hide his excitement upon hearing this.
The main hurdle to Bobby and Fernanda’s engagement had always been Judie, who never wanted Fernanda as her daughter-in-law, something Robert was well aware of. But now that Judie seemed to have softened, there was nothing standing in the way.
Robert was so elated that he almost wished tonight could be their engagement celebration.
Michelle’s expression was icy, her emotions clearly mixed.
Her daughter had caused her so much embarrassment, yet Fernanda seemed to be flourishing.
