Chapter 235:

Late at night, when it was quiet, Bobby often felt so frustrated thinking about his fiancée that he would smoke half a pack of cigarettes.

He had even played out their first meeting in his mind. Would it be incredibly tense? Would they glare at each other with eyes red from anger, or would they just endure an extremely awkward silence? In any scenario, it seemed like a nightmare.

When the moment finally arrived, it turned out they had already met before.

Fate really had a sense of humor, introducing the last person he’d expect as his fiancée.

“I’m actually relieved now that what I feel for you is admiration and not love,” Bobby chuckled. “Imagine how awkward I’d feel now otherwise.”

Fernanda also chuckled along with him.

She had always believed that as long as relationships were approached honestly, they weren’t really a big deal.

“Now I feel relieved. Knowing you’re my fiancée puts me at ease, as my friends can’t tease me anymore,” Bobby suddenly added.

It made sense why his friends hadn’t brought up his fiancée recently. He thought they were avoiding the topic to spare his feelings, but in reality, they found nothing to tease him about because his fiancée was so impressive.

Bobby felt as if his life had dramatically shifted. He planned to confront those friends tomorrow, to turn the tables and show them how foolish their jokes had been.

No, not tomorrow; he wanted to go right now.

Feeling buoyant from the alcohol and in high spirits, Bobby declared, “Alright, Fernanda, I need to head out and meet up with some friends.”

Fernanda watched him with an amused smile. “You’re pretty busy, huh?”

“Of course,” Bobby said, then added, “I’m the dream guy of countless beauties.”

Fernanda was at a loss for words at his arrogance.

Did he really think it was okay to flirt with other women while still pursuing Wendy? Was that fair?

It clearly crossed a line. No wonder Wendy wanted nothing to do with him.

But Bobby had already walked away.

After a few steps, he called back to Cristian in a generous tone, “Cristian, I’m leaving the car for you. Make sure to take Fernanda home later.”

Cristian acknowledged with a casual nod.

Fernanda approached him, eyeing the red glow of his cigarette.

“How many cigarettes have you smoked today?” she asked.

Cristian pulled out an elegant cigarette case from his pocket, opened it, and found it empty.

“Is something bothering you?” Fernanda asked. “Why are you smoking so much?”

“It’s because I’m thinking about you,” Cristian replied.

Fernanda thought the answer was strange. “You’re thinking about me? But I’m right here.”

“Yes, you’re here, but I still miss you,” Cristian said, looking deep into her eyes. “I always feel like you’re still far away, so I miss you.”
