Chapter 298
Chapter 298:
“Of course. We’re here to enjoy ourselves. Why should one fool’s antics ruin the whole trip?” Fernanda shot back, a glimmer of defiance in her eyes.
Bobby stared at her, torn between admiration for her grit and sheer disbelief at her choices.
The room was practically tense, yet Fernanda seemed like the calmest soul among them.
“I think she’s right,” Wendy chimed in. “When life throws you rotten apples, you might as well bake a pie and savor it.”
Fernanda chuckled, her spirits lifting. Wendy always had a knack for seeing things her way.
With Fernanda and Wendy both so set on staying, Bobby had no real grounds to argue.
In truth, he looked forward to spending some time with the two of them, even under these bizarre circumstances.
A yawn slipped from Fernanda’s lips, fatigue finally catching up to her after such a whirlwind day.
Sloane wasted no time suggesting they get some rest, but Bobby remained insistent. He wanted them at a hotel, reasoning that staying here was akin to tempting fate.
“The nearest hotel is an hour away at best,” Jeff pointed out, his voice steady. “And I doubt the accommodations would be up to your standards, Bobby.”
Bobby frowned, clearly not thrilled by the prospect.
“It’s fine,” Fernanda said with a dismissive wave. “The storm’s already passed.” With Rafael hospitalized and no immediate threat looming, she was certain there was nothing more to worry about.
Bobby held his tongue, though the worry on his face lingered.
Instead of returning to her previous room, Fernanda chose to bunk with Wendy for the night.
As they settled in, Wendy turned to her with a knowing smile. “Are you going to spill the beans now? How exactly did you piece everything together?”
The guest room at the villa was adorned with a spacious and inviting king-sized bed, exuding a sense of opulence.

Fernanda lay sprawled across it, her posture radiating nonchalance, as if appearances were the least of her concerns.
“From the moment Rafael showed up and I heard his name, I had my guard up,” Fernanda stated bluntly, her tone as sharp as a well-honed blade. “Better to be overly cautious than to regret it later, especially with his ties to Ava.”
“You’re being thorough,” Wendy observed.
“Cautiousness never hurts anyone,” Fernanda sighed. “If I hadn’t been on high alert today, do you think I’d still be sitting here unscathed?”
Wendy fell silent, acknowledging the weight of Fernanda’s words. The outcome could have been catastrophic. Rafael’s scheme was malicious, aimed at shattering Fernanda’s reputation.
“And that Ellis,” Fernanda continued abruptly. “When he was bringing wine for Rafael, I noticed something off about him. He didn’t fit in with Rafael’s usual crowd at all. The hoodie he wore was from a luxury brand, quite pricey, but it wasn’t something he seemed accustomed to. It looked like a last-minute buy—ill-fitting and not his usual style. The way he kept brushing off imaginary specks of dirt made it obvious he wasn’t used to handling something so expensive.”
