It seemed like Fernanda had decided to let the issue fade away.
Rosita let out a sigh and nodded, agreeing with the decision.
She believed that releasing the news today had been a mistake.
The news barely gained any attention, and Bloom Group quickly took it down with minimal effort. All it did was draw Bright Lights Media onto their radar, making it tougher for them to function in the industry in the future.
In Rosita’s view, publishing that news had been pointless.
She felt Fernanda was too young—acting on impulse without considering the consequences.
But she kept these thoughts to herself, not saying a word.
After ending the call, Rosita felt a wave of unease. She couldn’t shake the worry about Bright Lights Media’s future.
She feared that, one day, Fernanda’s decisions might bring the company to ruin. Sighing, Rosita began to wonder if it was time to start planning for her own future, maybe even moving to a more secure company.
After Fernanda ended the call, Bobby turned onto his side, lying beside her. His voice was soft, like a whisper carried on the evening breeze. “Fernanda, who was that on the phone? My cousin?”
“No, it was someone from my company,” Fernanda replied, her tone calm but revealing nothing.
Bobby’s curiosity sparked, and he propped himself up on one elbow. “Since when do you have a company?”
“I started a small one not long ago,” Fernanda explained, brushing a strand of hair from her face. “It’s just a way to gain experience. Nothing too significant.” She deliberately withheld the details of her conversation with Rosita, knowing Bobby’s temperament all too well. If he got wind of it, he might march straight to Bloom Group to confront them.
Fernanda didn’t want people assuming her strength came solely from her connection to Bobby. She had her own plans, her own ambitions.
Changing the subject, she asked, “Do you know anything about Rafael’s brother-in-law?”
“You mean Roscoe Brown?” Bobby asked, sitting up fully now. “I’ve met him, but we’re not exactly close.”
“I heard his Bloom Group is quite influential.”
Bobby shrugged, reaching for a bag of chips. “Well, in the media industry, it has a decent reputation. I saw some ranking a while back, and it was pretty high. But that’s the entertainment world—who knows what skeletons are hiding in their closet? Who can tell if the business is clean? Right?”
Fernanda blinked, intrigued. “Do you think the company isn’t clean?”
Bobby’s tone turned casual, almost nonchalant. “I’m just saying, not many of these companies are genuinely clean. Without some backdoor deals or power plays, how else do they promote their artists? And when some artists suddenly vanish, it’s usually because they crossed the wrong person.”
Though his words were offhand, they planted a seed in Fernanda’s mind.
