Chapter 334
Chapter 334:
Cristian’s stare was so intense and burning that it left Fernanda feeling unexpectedly shy.
Normally, she was pretty good at staying composed, but whenever Cristian looked at her like that, she couldn’t help but feel flustered, her heart racing in her chest.
She couldn’t figure out what was going on with her.
They hadn’t talked about anything personal, and there wasn’t even any closeness between them—she was sitting a couple of seats away on the sofa—so why was she feeling so self-conscious?
Just being in the same room with him made her feel oddly out of place. There was something about him—his presence was both commanding and reassuring, like it could surround her and make her feel safe.
Luckily, the IV was almost done, which gave Fernanda a chance to focus on something else. “Can you grab another IV bag for me? I’ll skip bothering the doctor.”
Cristian got up and hooked up a new IV bag without missing a beat.
“Four bags in total?” he asked, double-checking.
“Yeah.” Fernanda nodded. “Almost there.” Then she asked, “Did you get a hold of Bobby?”
“No, why do you ask?”
“He’s sick as well,” Fernanda said. “I heard he was waiting up on the cliff’s edge after I left, and that’s how he caught the cold.”
Cristian chuckled dismissively, clearly uninterested, maybe even mocking. “He’s too soft.”
Fernanda was caught off guard. “Don’t you think that’s a bit harsh, especially about your cousin?”
“I’m just being honest,” Cristian shot back. “I’ve told him a hundred times to work out with me, but he always says it’s too exhausting and refuses. No surprise he’s soft.”
Fernanda didn’t know how to respond to that.

It wasn’t until all the IV bags were done that Fernanda realized Sloane, who had stepped out to grab her some food, still hadn’t come back.
She glanced at her phone and saw a message from Sloane, sent forty minutes ago.
“Did Cristian come to see you?” Wendy asked casually, setting the dessert she had picked up for Fernanda on the table.
“Yeah, how’d you figure that out?”
Wendy grinned and shot back, “How do you think he knew you were in the infirmary?”
Fernanda quickly pieced it together: Cristian must have asked Wendy, who learned from Sloane that she was in the infirmary and then passed it on to him.
“Are you curious why he didn’t reach out to you first?” Wendy seemed to sense Fernanda’s thoughts and continued, “I’m guessing he was hoping to catch you off guard with a surprise visit, which is why he didn’t mention it beforehand.” Wendy then plopped down on Fernanda’s bed, eyeing her curiously. “So, were you surprised when he showed up?”
“Nope,” Fernanda muttered, quickly looking away from Wendy’s probing gaze.
“You’re not being honest!” Wendy exclaimed, her eyes narrowing as though she could see straight through Fernanda. “Your face has already given you away.”
