Chapter 347
Chapter 347:
“She probably doesn’t want to see me,” Mayson muttered, his voice thick with sadness.
“Let’s go together,” Vinson suggested gently. “Mom and Dad said this year’s important—it’s her coming-of-age celebration. She might not want anyone unfamiliar there, so let’s keep it low-key with just the family. Keep your schedule open and don’t make other plans.”
Mayson nodded, though his heart was a stone sinking deep in his chest. “Okay.” He swallowed hard, fighting the rising anxiety that tightened around his throat. Once Vinson was gone, Mayson’s mind spun in circles. Then, like a sudden flash of light in the dark, he remembered: he had to tell Erika the good news.
When Erika answered his call, her excitement was unmistakable.
“Mayson, you’re incredible! You finished it already? You’re amazing!”
Mayson felt his cheeks burn under the praise, a little embarrassed but secretly pleased.
“When will it happen?” Erika asked, her voice practically bubbling with eagerness.
“I’ll let you know once my brother finalizes it. Since it’s a joint venture, there are some details to iron out. It might take a couple of days.”
“Alright,” Erika said quickly, nodding. “No rush.”
But her words couldn’t hide the impatience bubbling up inside her. She couldn’t wait to wrap everything up and present the contract to her father. Finally, she could show she had more to offer.
Her brother always said she was too much of a child, but now, she could prove him wrong. She could stand on her own and show she could make a difference.
Two days later, during a rehearsal for the music festival, Mayson casually mentioned to Erika that his brother had drawn up the contract, and if everything went according to plan, they’d be signing it on Saturday.
Erika felt a rush of excitement. “Saturday,” she thought with a grin. It was the day she could finally go home and bask in the sight of Fernanda’s face as it crumbled with frustration and defeat.
To Erika, the days leading up to Saturday felt like an eternity. She couldn’t stop herself from mentally ticking off each minute until the day arrived.
When she finally stepped through the door at home, she found Robert and Ector lounging on the sofa, deep in conversation.

Robert’s face still carried the weight of a storm cloud, and Ector looked like someone who hadn’t had a decent night’s sleep in days.
Truth be told, Ector had been burning the candle at both ends, personally overseeing a handful of deals and putting his signature on contracts. Though these deals were far smaller than the ones they’d worked on with the Bloom Group, they still held the promise of fresh opportunities.
Ector was hoping these new deals would serve as some kind of balm for Robert’s simmering anger, hoping it would cool the fire of dissatisfaction burning in his chest over Fernanda’s recklessness.
The sight of the contracts did bring Robert’s mood down a few notches, but when he saw how tired his son appeared, his frustration reignited. If it hadn’t been for Fernanda’s careless actions, would his son be in this state of exhaustion?
