“Alright,” Fernanda responded with a brief glance his way. “Thanks.”

Kevin, slightly embarrassed by her gaze, looked away and quickly added, “It’s just that Ector asked me to tell you, not that I wanted to remind you.”

“It doesn’t matter,” Fernanda replied as she walked into the dining room. She uncovered the thermal container to reveal several beautifully prepared dishes. After arranging them neatly on the table, she began to eat. She had just started on some spaghetti when Kevin appeared.

He didn’t come in but leaned against the doorframe, watching her.

After a couple of minutes of his gaze lingering on her, Fernanda spoke without looking up. “If you’ve got something to say, out with it.”

“About last night,” Kevin said awkwardly. “I’ve decided to let the boy go after thinking it over all night.”

He didn’t want to create any issues for Fernanda.

Fernanda was engaged to Bobby, linking her to the influential Reed family of Litdence. That boy Kevin referred to belonged to the Reed family as well. Therefore, Fernanda should avoid any conflict with her future in-laws before the wedding, as it could make her married life more difficult.

Last night, Kevin found himself searching online for solutions to manage tensions with in-laws. The more he read, the deeper his concerns grew for Fernanda’s well-being. He couldn’t help but blame himself for the onset of these issues, adding to his regret.

Fernanda quietly chewed her broccoli before asking, “Who was that boy we met last night?”

“I’m not sure,” Kevin replied.

Raising an eyebrow, Fernanda continued, “But you mentioned he was an acquaintance.”

“I don’t know much about him, actually. We met at a summer camp where everyone was into e-games, and we ended up playing together. I never got his name, just knew that he came from a wealthy family and had many followers.” Kevin explained, recalling how he had bumped into the boy at an internet café the day before, and they had played a game together.

What he hadn’t anticipated was that the boy would later flirt with Erika, sparking such a confrontation. Nor did he predict the boy’s connection to the influential Reed family of Litdence.

“Well, I taught him a hard lesson yesterday, and he’s not the type to forget such things easily,” Fernanda said. “Now he definitely holds a grudge against me. But you don’t have to worry about me; I’ll take care of things.”

After finishing her meal, Fernanda put the leftover food back into the thermal container and loaded the plates into the dishwasher. Kevin observed her exit the room without another word.

Left feeling slightly bewildered, he wondered if his words had upset her. After some reflection, he slapped himself on the forehead.

She had reassured him just yesterday to be brave, yet he was letting his fears dominate. He felt sure she must be disappointed in him, which might explain her silence. Dejected, Kevin slumped back on the sofa, berating himself silently.
