Chapter 379
Chapter 379:
“How do you plan to reply?” he asked, his voice low and rough, filled with a simmering rage that seemed to grow with each passing second.
Bonita stayed silent, backing away in fear.
“Send him two hundred thousand, and you could be his girlfriend,” Beckett said with a cold laugh. “So, what’s your answer? Are you going to agree?”
“No… no,” Bonita whispered, shaking her head vigorously, her face as pale as a sheet. Her eyes, wide with fear, filled with tears, and her voice quivered as she spoke. “I am not…”
“You’re lying!” Beckett roared, cutting her off mid-sentence, his voice a harsh, piercing shout. His eyes, red and bloodshot, glared at her with an intensity that made him resemble a predator stalking its prey, ready to pounce.
“Didn’t you just smile? Like someone in love!” he growled. “Are you really going to deny it? You must be dying to say yes! Pay him two hundred thousand, and you’ll be his girlfriend. Damn it. You are that desperate to find yourself a boyfriend, huh!”
Tears streamed down Bonita’s cheeks, her lips quivering as she stood there, looking completely broken, her misery written all over her face.
With a sharp crash, Beckett hurled the plastic bag from his hand to the ground. Bonita had always been a sucker for matcha-flavored desserts, with matcha cake being her favorite indulgence.
Earlier, Beckett had stumbled upon a shop that specialized in matcha desserts, and he had picked up a few treats to surprise Bonita. Among them was a box of matcha ice cream, packed with ice bags to keep it cold.
Now, as he watched Bonita recoil from him, Beckett felt like everything he had done was meaningless. No matter what he did to win her over, she always looked terrified when he was near. But when it came to another man, even though his messages were cold and distant, she would smile as if nothing was wrong. Why was that? What was he missing?
Terrified, Bonita spun around and bolted toward the door, but Beckett was faster. His hand shot out and grabbed her wrist with such force that pain shot through her arm. Bonita wanted to scream, to call for help, but it was late, and she didn’t want to wake up the whole building. So, she bit her lip, swallowing her terror.
“Let go of me!” Bonita shouted, struggling against him. “Let go, or I’ll scream for help!”
“Go ahead, scream for help!” Beckett’s eyes were wild with rage. “You won’t, will you? You’re too ashamed, aren’t you? You don’t want anyone to know how you’re playing both sides, stringing me along while keeping another man around. You’re the lowest of the low!”

Bonita felt every word pierce her soul, her tears flowing harder. Trapped and desperate, she lowered her head and sank her teeth into Beckett’s hand. She bit down hard enough to taste blood, and in pain, Beckett finally released her.
Without a second thought, Bonita sprinted away, but as her feet slipped beneath her, she crashed hard onto the floor of the dormitory lobby. The fall was painful, but Bonita didn’t care. She scrambled to her feet and stumbled off, desperate to get away.
The way she rushed off, it was as if she was running from something terrible. Beckett stared after her retreating figure with a blank expression, not averting his gaze until she was out of sight. Only then did he turn his attention elsewhere.
His hand throbbed with pain, but Beckett didn’t glance at the bloody bite mark. Instead, his attention was drawn to the mess scattered on the ground. Cream was smeared everywhere, and the tiny strawberry, which he had once thought was so cute, now lay discarded and lonely in the dirt.
