Chapter 400
Chapter 400:
Was Haley here not to warn her to stay away from Cristian, but simply to express her fondness for her?
Fernanda stumbled back to her dorm room, her mind clouded. Wendy was still nowhere to be found.
As Fernanda collapsed onto her bed, she couldn’t shake off the thoughts swirling in her mind. Haley’s words replayed over and over. The tone in Haley’s voice had suggested that she didn’t mind Fernanda getting closer to Cristian. In fact, it almost felt like Haley was encouraging it.
This left Fernanda utterly confused. If Haley truly saw herself with Cristian, shouldn’t she have warned Fernanda to keep her distance from him, instead of offering her approval?
After tossing and turning for what felt like an eternity, Fernanda finally pulled a pillow over her head, hoping to drown out the noise in her mind. She was too exhausted to think any longer.
She couldn’t recall the exact moment she drifted off, but faintly, she heard the door creak open. It was Wendy, slipping in quietly.
Without switching on the light, Wendy moved around gently, and Fernanda barely stirred before slipping back into a deep sleep.
A week passed, and the exam results were finally posted.
Fernanda quickly logged into the school website, typed in her student ID, and checked her scores. Everything was just as she had hoped—she had done well.
Sloane’s dorm was right next door, so it didn’t take long for her to show up. With a drink in hand, she leaned in eagerly, taking a sip as she urged, “Fernanda, let me see how you did!”
Fernanda opened the page and let Sloane take a good look at her results.
“Wow, you really nailed it… though your calculus score was a bit lower than the rest. But honestly, it’s not a big deal. You’re still amazing,” Sloane said, giving Fernanda’s shoulder an affectionate pat, like a proud older sister.
“I’ve also checked the scores of the other pretty girls on the beauty pageant shortlist,” Sloane went on. “Honestly, they’re impressive—they have both good looks and excellent exam scores.”

Fernanda grinned. “Yeah, they’re all amazing—truly impressive girls.”
“Come on, Fernanda, you’ve got to win!” Sloane said, raising her fist. “Help us grab that prize money and push our Esports Academy forward.”
The seriousness in Sloane’s tone made Fernanda chuckle. “I’ll do my best, no worries.”
Sloane lowered her voice, leaning in close. “Let’s head to the lecture. I got two tickets from my brother—one for each of us.”
Fernanda’s eyes widened as realization hit. “Jordyn’s lecture?”
Sloane’s eyes sparkled with excitement. “Yes, she’s on the list too, and she’s one of your competitors. I heard Jordyn’s coming to give a lecture here, so I grabbed the tickets right away. After all, knowing your enemy is half the battle.”
Fernanda hesitated, unsure, but Sloane wasn’t ready to let up. “Jordyn’s a young PhD in finance—super impressive. Many students are dying to hear her speak. Do you know how hard it was to get these tickets? Don’t let them go to waste. We have to go together!”
