Chapter 422
Chapter 422:
Fernanda shook her head. “Sounds good, but I don’t want to take shortcuts. Thank you for your offer. Winning isn’t what matters to me. This pageant is about me stepping outside my comfort zone. I’ve never experienced campus life before, and I want to pursue this with my own efforts, without anyone’s help.”
“You do realize it won’t be easy to win. Have you seen the list of participants? Some of the contestants are well-known and have strong fan bases. Going up against them won’t be a walk in the park.”
Fernanda smiled. “That’s alright. As I said, it doesn’t matter if I win or lose.” With that, Fernanda reached for the car door.
But before stepping out, she turned to Vinson and added, “Mr. Turner, I appreciate your offer. But let’s leave it here. I’ll pretend we never had this conversation.”
Then she opened the door and got out.
Her casual outfit, loose and understated, couldn’t conceal the natural grace in her movements.
Vinson leaned back in the driver’s seat and watched Fernanda as she walked away. His mind wandered to the first time she had come to see him. That day, she had worn a simple dress, and the sight of her long legs had caught his attention.
To him, they were the most beautiful legs he had ever seen.
The truth was, Vinson considered himself an admirer of aesthetics, particularly women’s legs, though he never mentioned it to anyone for fear of being called sleazy or disrespectful.
He appreciated beauty when he saw it.
From that moment, he imagined how incredible it would be if Fernanda could model for his company.
Vinson often mused that life would have been simpler if she were just an ordinary college student. Then, he could have made her a lucrative offer to entice her to shoot ads for his brand.

However, Fernanda was the daughter of the Morgan family. While the Morgans weren’t among the elite, they were affluent enough that she never had to worry about money.
Vinson could only pin his hopes on this beauty pageant.
Still, her refusal was as firm as he had expected.
When Fernanda returned to her dormitory, she was surprised to find Wendy already back. Her roommate was seated at her desk, carefully examining a skull with gloved hands.
“Is that an artifact?” Fernanda asked, her curiosity piqued.
Without looking up, Wendy replied, “It’s a two-thousand-year-old skull. It’s impressive how well it’s been preserved. We’re working on a 3D reconstruction of it.”
Fernanda watched her, fascinated. She didn’t know much about archaeology but had always thought it seemed like an exciting and adventurous field. Like many, she had assumed it was all about digging up ancient graves and exploring long-lost ruins.
